Patriots v Falcons

Who are you going with?

Scruffington
02-05-2017, 10:23 PM
F the Pats.

I had a perfect record of 7-0 in cheering for the winning team in every Super Bowl I watched before they beat the Seahawks at Super Bowl XLIX.

Quite a bit of swearing so watch at your own risk. Basically how I feel about the super bowl this year. :exdee:

Yeah. Go Falcons.

charliepanayi

Prediction: Patriots 24 Falcons 17 (they're not playing their SB Kryptonite in Eli and the Giants after all)

I'm a little torn over what I want to happen. Most of me wants Atlanta to stuff Tom Brady and his stupid MAGA cap, but there's a Patriots fan where I work who is very nice and a staunch Democrat and she probably needs the pick-me-up at the moment. It would be good if it was as exciting and down to the wire as all of Brady and the Patriots' Super Bowls have been anyway.

When I was travelling the States a few years back, I met a Patriots fan and promised her that I'd support them if she supported Man Utd. We've both been true to our word.

So go Pats!

Cool to see some of the Hamilton cast singing America the Beautiful!

Also, seeing Bush Sr. being wheeled out there to a tremendous ovation really makes you miss the simpler times.

Freeman early shout for MVP.

Great stuff so far!

Hoo, Patriots getting spanked right now.

On the one hand, I'd prefer a closer game. On the other hand, Tom Brady throwing a pick six HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Del Murder

Hey Patriots, there's a Super Bowl going on right now. You should really check it out.

Bubba
02-06-2017, 02:04 AM
The Patriots are winning by electoral yards though

Del Murder
02-06-2017, 02:07 AM
You're right, they've been really strong on getting yards in the middle of the field. Not so much on the coasts.

Del Murder
02-06-2017, 02:12 AM
Brady just Tweeted from the sidelines that most of Atlanta's points were scored by illegal immigrants and he's launching an investigation.

Del Murder
02-06-2017, 02:14 AM
Apparently Brady is taking it easy on them because he feels sorry for all the rampant crime and poverty that exists in Atlanta. SO SAD!

Bubba
02-06-2017, 02:25 AM
I'm so happy right now

Apparently Trump is watching the game right now. He saw Brady get sacked so many times that he wondered which department President Obama had appointed him to.

It's almost complete...

Brady's latest Tweet is now accusing Radical Islamic Terrorists of hacking the scoreboard. Fortunately, he knows a few Russians who can help him fix the problem.

What's with guys named Ryan dropping the ball for their team?

charliepanayi
02-06-2017, 02:42 AM
If the Falcons don't score here we're all going to start getting very nervous!

Bubba
02-06-2017, 02:44 AM
Nah, eight points is still too much.

charliepanayi
02-06-2017, 03:01 AM
Are you sure?! They'd still have to make the conversion if they get the TD, mind you.

Bubba
02-06-2017, 03:02 AM
Nope. Not any more.

What. A. Catch.

Bubba

Belichick called Trump for some advice. I guess it worked out for them, but that's probably not what Trump meant when he said 'make sure the white guy gets it'.

I hate Brady, but whatever the result here, he must be the GOAT

Bubba

What a game.

Brady is a :bou::bou::bou::bou: but he can play hand egg really well.

Congrats Pats.

Del Murder
02-06-2017, 03:26 AM
All silliness aside, that was a damn fine comeback by Brady and the Patriots. I should have known they would have won, but Nate Silver had them only at a 34% chance.

Bubba
02-06-2017, 03:29 AM
No-one comes close as a quarterback now. He's out on his own.

Political opinion aside, he is a tremendous athlete.

At least when Brady retires, he'll be taking a large chunk of his shitty Pats fanbase with him. Football will get more interesting to watch as well.

I'm going to enjoy watching the Patriots lose.

Only Eli and the Giants can beat Tom Brady in a SB, this is the proof!

Greatest. Game. Ever.

I have absolutely no voice. I started drinking at 6am this morning. I had to put up with three quarters worth of my asshole friends dancing in front of me. I didn't think anything could be as sweet as that Malcolm Butler interception in the 2015 superbowl but this definitely topped it.

Not even close to the greatest game ever. This game was a complete blowout until the Falcons had a fourth quarter meltdown. Super Bowl XLII was far more entertaining than this garbage.

F the Pats.

Worst thing I've ever seen. Absolutely disgusting. Poor Atlanta.

Agreed. Atlanta sports teams have been through a lot. Really feel for them.

I think this game ending in OT is one of the reasons why I don't care as much about football. There's no chance for the opposing team to get an attempt at offense if the coinflip winning team gets a TD. A coinflip literally decides the game.

charliepanayi
02-06-2017, 08:58 AM
Yeah, the coinflip thing is stupid, though I'm not sure Atlanta would have been able to respond anyway, they looked utterly broken by the end of regulation.

It's kind of irrelevant if they would have done anything or not considering they never got a fair crack at it.

Football has the worst OT ruleset of any major sport. Hockey begins sudden death OT with a neutral faceoff at center ice. Soccer has two 15-minute OT periods regardless if a team scores or not. Baseball has both teams play out their innings until one wins. Basketball has a jump ball to start, and the game continues if both teams are tied at the end of OT. By comparison, football's OT rules are terrible.

Oh well. Back to not caring about football and watching better sports (hockey).

Teams seem to do daft things when in great positions in the Super Bowl, the Pats just seem to rise to the challenge every time (sadly).

I'm waiting for the triumphant Bears Superbowl run in 2018.

This is spot on. My FB was nothing but "smurf YOU HATERS!" "smurf YOU NFL!" and trout like that. You won, great, no need to rub it into everyone's face.
