So after years of wondering f I should or not, today I bought a brand new latest edition 3DS. The idea for this is it was looking like Nintendo has been keeping putting in their selections lots of JRPGs and well... They are my favourite genre so I picked one up.

Any games people would suggest me grabbing I may not have played? Couldn't find Dragon Quest VIII today, but will most likely download it once my next payday comes.

Already planning on Pokemon Sun/Moon too. What else is there?

You have the latest edition 3DS? Great! You can get Xenoblade Chronicles on the store, and that's a classic RPG that I haven't been able to get myself.

I will put that on my shopping list!

There's an incredibly robust backlog of DS games that the 3DS plays - make sure you grab those! Things like Radiant Historia, DQs IV-VI and IX, FFIV DS and the Chrono Trigger port are just a small number of insanely good RPGs on the handheld

Tanks Fynn, what were the Mario JRPGs. You told me about them before.

Do you like mecha?

Oh yeah! There's a whole series called Mario and Luigi. The first one is a GBA game called Superstar SaGa, then there's 2 DS games - Partner in Time and Bowser's Inside Story (this one's the best of the bunch), and 2 3DS games - Dream Team Bros. and Paper Jam.

Although it's not exclusively on the 3DS, I recommend Shovel Knight if you enjoy games like Mega Man.

I suppose it depends on your definition of RPG but Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is fantastic.

Agreed that Zelda on 3DS is awesome. Make sure you also check out Bravely Default and the smorgasbord of SMT Titles such as SMTIV, SMTIV: Apocalypse, and Soul Hackers. All fantastic RPGs.

I really should have waited until next payday. I have the money, but the industry I am in is kinda up and down right now. I only worked one month in 2016, and already have more hours in 2017 then I did in 2016. I am just being cautious.

How come no one's said anything about Etrian Odyssey? Those games are great. And pretty challenging too. I like that you make your team and go off on an adventure.

That sounds really fun! I will definitely be adding that to my list.

Oh, well I played and really enjoyed Persona Q, which is basically what was produced when the makers of Etrian Odyssey made a Persona crossover game.

It's actually really good, but you'd want to play Persona 3 and Persona 4 before Q.

Yeah, no Q before 3 and 4

Also, get Theatrhytm: Curtain Call. It's amazing. And then I can destroy you at it

Etrian Odyssey is the one series I miss now that I don't have a handheld they come out on.

If you're a fan of mecha anime and Strategy RPG's, check out the Super Robot Wars/Super Robot Taisen series. I think I mentioned it before.
