The Johto Pokémon are coming this week! This is confirmed, though there is no concrete date for some reason?

Anyway, I'm super excited. After the whole baby Pokémon business, I was really worried they'd be trickling down all these Pokémon instead of giving us big updates

I do of course have a hundred complaints, the battle system is meh, there's very limited things you can do, they stopped you being able to spin Pokestops if you're going above 20mph and 90% of the Pokemon I see are Pidgeys, Weedles and Rattatas, but despite all those moans I've had a great time playing it and it got me out and about and exploring new areas.

For me, it had very little to offer once you've caught most of the pokemon native to your area. Other than catching, the only other content was to take over the gyms and eventually 2500 CP Dragonites controlled all of them. I also wish they kept the first version of the tracker. I hate the new version.

I haven't played this in a few months. Is trading allowed yet? Any other activities besides catching and gym battles? Are there better ways to find pokemon you are missing from your 'dex?

The Gen 2 sounds interesting but I'm not that interested in wading through more pidgeys and rattatas to find them.

I think they've actually changed the distribution of Pokémon? So less Ratattas and Pidgeys and more Nidorans and stuff

They should introduce a Pokemon care function on Pokemon GO, to suit those who like to pamper their pokemon after catching them instead of fighting 2500CP Dragonites.

The worst part about you saying that is that you live in the Bay Area, aka the best place on the planet to find Pokemon in this game.
Truth be told, I found like 130 of 150, so there wasn't much left to be found. :D

This app updated on my phone today, but I haven't found any new Pokemon yet so I'm not sure if it's THE update or not.

So this is live and people have already figured out that you need to name your Eevee Tamao for Umbreon and Sakura for Espeon

I went out and about looking for them but the update hadn't rolled for me - I did catch a Muk though! Which I was pleased with, as I'd only ever seen one Grimer in my entire time playing the game.

My ride to work was pretty fruitful! I did get a Pidgey, a Gastly, and a Ratatta, but I also caught a Spinarak, Sentret, Natu, Swinub, Hoothoot, and Wooper!

And the selection is so much better. I saw Nidoran, Murkrow, and even Sudowoodo! So gone are the days of encountering only Ratatta and Pidgey.

I like the reintroduction of genders (my starter Charmander is actually a female!), and that all the types have icons now. When you encounter a Pokémon their typing is even briefly displayed above their head, which is neat!

EDIT: Also, noticed a whole bunch of people playing. I knew bringing in more Pokémon would keep people involved. It's a shame it took so long with so many poor decisions along the way. Hope we can get gen 3 by summer so that we can get out in the nicer weather with even more Pokémon to catch

Aha, now they're here! Loaded up and got a Spinarak, Sentret, Murkrow and a Hoppip, as well as using the Eevee name trick for Espeon and Umbreon.

It's lunch so I was able to pull this up, evolved an eevee to a Espeon! and dang a ledyba jumps around the dang screen!

I know it will be a while before they get to Gen 7, but they should at least release the Alola forms of the Gen 1 Pokemon for people playing in Hawaii. :D

I was able to walk across the street to the church! Still couldn't find the Sudowoodo that was on my tracker :( Couldn't keep hunting though, I barely can't reach it from my work desk, LAME. I wonder how rare he is! I hope I didn't miss out on a rare one D:

It's for your phone. It's a tracking going outside and finding app, haha. You have to physically go places and you "throw" a ball at pokemon you find. There are Gyms you can take over for your selected team too.

If it's too easy you can try the ROM hacks. Ever since I got introduced to them I've stopped playing the vanilla versions. There's also Pokemon Prism that has level design different from the others and came out last Christmas and I wrote a review of it here. By the sound of it Sun and Moon also changed the formula up considerably.

I'm not familiar with generation 2 Pokémon, are umbreon or espeon equal to or more powerful than gen 1 evees? Only have a few Evees so I can't get both atm.

I found the chikorita just around my town, totadile a was near a pokestop and Cyndaquil was on a pokestop that had a lure on it.

I caught a Sentret but then turns out it was actually a Ditto in disguise! I had no idea that could even happen.
