I thought it'd be fun to have a thread where we can just gush about games. No specific rules on how or why, it can be a one-liner that made you grin or a whole game that's given you hours of joy. Just talk about stuff in games that has made you happy or impressed you! Don't hate on other people or their games, but please do chat and dig deeper into what people say, hopefully we can all find more fun things to enjoy!

I'll start by saying that I just really love the music in Planet Coaster. It's so happy, upbeat, it makes me smile to listen to, and it just does a great job of combining the excitement of theme parks and the chill nature of a little bonsai sim.

Touhou has such great music. Even games I don't really like, I feel like forgiving everything when I listen to their OSTs. Prime example being Undefined Fantastic Object, my least favorite game in the series, which has bullshit deaths, a terrible resource collecting system and overall just unsatisfying challenges... but still has this final stage theme (https://youtu.be/Aca3f9OYcXs) followed by this final boss theme (https://youtu.be/lmy6rcn_v3A). It's absolutely incredible.

I LOVE DRAGON AGE ESPECIALLY ORIGINS AND 2

I LOVE THE CHARACTERS MORE THAN MY OWN LIFE

I adore the Shin Megami Tensei for many reasons, but one of the most important is that you can tell so much research has gone into the various demons from myth and religion a around the world. The little details in their designs as well how much many quests involving them parallel their myths are just amazing. Few things give me so much satisfaction.

Danganronpa's ambiance is pretty top drawer. They really nail it

Also, Chrono Cross is a wonderfully unique game that really does a terrific job putting the entirety of Trigger on its head and deserves so much more love.

I have never played this "groom across", but I am saving it before you edit it to "Chrono Cross".

But the original is far superior. ;)

Stupid phone :p

I love both games about equally but for totally different reasons. Trigger is a fun romp with a tight narrative, while Cross crafts a great, dark story and open-ended gameplay.

It's kinda terrible that I genuinely thought 'groom across' was a game.

I really like this thread idea! :)

It's been exactly seven years since I started my first game on FF IV (I know I'm weird I remember things like that haha). It was the first main FF I ever played. I started it just before I turned twelve, and I was hooked. I remember laying on my bed playing it on the Gameboy for most of that summer, while my sister listened to the radio. Most of the popular songs from 2010 now remind me of level grinding for the final boss and going through the Lunar Trials (I realized later that I was waaay over leveled for the final boss) . For awhile after, all the RPGs I played paled in comparison. A mixture of nostalgia, great characters and good straightforward story is the reason IV is my favorite FF.

Magic: the Gathering is now the only game I play and it's amazing. It ticks all the boxes I want in a game; it's incredibly deep, strategic, and has amazing worldbuilding and artwork.

For a DLC Expansion, The Old Hunter's is both robust and rather gripping. Thematically, it's similar to Artorias of the Abyss DLC for Dark Souls, in that the main story is finally meeting key figures in the stories lore who are all mostly tragic figures. The Old Hunter's also doubles as a bit of an explanation of the background of the story as well since the DLC begins with the ironic hell of the Hunter's Nightmare, jumps to a glimpse of the monstrous experiments the Choir and Healing Church were doing in Yharnam and finally the dark truth of how the Old Blood was discovered in the Fishing Hamlet. There is definitely a better frame for a story in this DLC than Dark Souls and I like that we got to meet several prominent figures who shaped the world of Bloodborne but had already died by the time the story begins. Not to mention the revelation about the Doll in the Hunter's Dream...

That at picture made me smile big time. Just look at Crono's face.

Still playing a modded out Skyrim. Having a blast trying a different build then usual.

Also Pike, Dragon Age II is so underrated due to reused maps, yet I loved Hawke and his story. It is the strongest in the series in my opinion. However I do miss exploring the Deep Roads in Origins.

Doom (2016) is my game of the year 2017. Hands down. Only thing I can imagine topping it before year end is Persona 5 if I manage to buy it by then.

Uncharted 2 was one of those games for me where I was like "why did it take me so long to play this?!". So many moments in that game that just leave me with good vibes. :D

I can't help but gush over Persona 5. My few gripes are more nitpicky than anything, and the good overwhelms what little bad there is to the title. I'm not even done, and I'm already planning my NG+ playthrough.

Over the past few months anytime my girlfriend needed me to buy something on Amazon or through my GameStop credit, she'd pay me in cash and I'd buy the thing, and just pocket the cash. And I finally had a hundred saved up and spent it on Amazon credit to finally get myself a new hard drive for my console

Just finished getting it set up and getting logged in and now just waiting on things to download and install. But it's nice to no longer have to shelve a game to the back burner because I don't have space to try it. I've had games like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Nier Automata, Gravity Rush 2, and tons of others just sitting around because my console was so full of resource hogs like Horizon: Zero Dawn, or Dragon Age: Inquisition

I don't have to be scared of finally picking up The Witcher 3, or Uncharted 4

It's a good day for my gaming life~

I finally got around to playing FFXV Episode Gladiolus yesterday and was amused by the fact that Gilgamesh only had one arm as opposed to his usual designs.

Just completed one of the hardest parts of the Maximum Ambrosia Challenge in Persona 1.

Basically when you activate the Snow Queen Scenario, you have to challenge three towers of varying difficulty: Hypnos (Easy), Nemesis (Medium), and Thanatos (Hard) in order to collect mirror shards before the time runs out. Yes, the dungeon are timed, and failing to collect all the shards before the time runs out nets you the bad ending. Now, whenever you beat a tower, you get an item called Ambrosia, which can be traded with a Jack Frost NPC in the Frozen School for one of the items needed to unlock your parties ultimate personas, but what the game doesn't mention is that the amount of ambrosia you get is based on the order you tackle the dungeon. By now, I'm sure you've figured out what that means. In order to obtain all of the Ambrosia needed for the Ultimate Personas, you need to tackle Thanatos Tower first.

This Tower is a bitch for four reasons:

1) Obviously, the enemies are really powerful. If you don't do any prep work beforehand, you'll be about level 10-12 by the time this quest gets unlocked, the enemy level range varies from 35-42. This means that pretty much everything can one shot you. The key to survival is talking your way out of a fight but sadly, the group you're stuck with in the Snow Queen Scenario is not exactly the A-Team of negotiation abilities, and since your party is so low level, you can't even forge contracts to trivialize the harder enemies. Throw in the fact that if you accidentally get the enemies angry (and it's super easy to do thanks to how complex the talk command actually is in this entry) the enemy gets a free round to wreck you.

2) The Ghost of Yuriko who guards the Tower loves to play games with you, the first one forces you to have either have your MC or one of your party members lose their Persona in order to even enter the tower (I'll go into further detail below) and the other one has you choose between two chests, one contains a mirror shard and the other is a trap. If you fail to grab the mirror shard on the first try, it's lost forever and you can't get the good ending.

3. Not having your Persona sucks in this game. Part of the reason is because unlike the Social Link entries which don't bother to distinguish the character from their personas in terms of stats, your characters have their own separate stats and simply add a Persona's on top of it, allowing you to take a character with low agility and giving him a speedy Persona can make them as fast as your speedy party members and so on. So losing your persona not only strips you of your magic ability, but severely weakens the character to the point they will die from even the weakest of abilities despite their armor and they do pitiful damage as well. Losing you persona in this dungeon also prevents healing items from working on that character as well.

4. I's possible to get your Persona back by traveling to a special section of the tower which leads to Tartarus and finding a special room room where they resides. Thankfully it's not terribly far from the entrance way but it's still a hassle to get their. Now here's the serious rub: If a character dies in battle, even if they are revived before the battle ends, they will lose their Persona, meaning you'll have to backtrack to this place every time someone does just so you can survive, and you will die... a lot.

I also forgot to mention that their are no real save points in this dungeon, you can only do a quicksave type feature which erases itself once it's used, and that save point is only on the second floor and pretty far from where you need to be going. So after several nasty attempts where I couldn't get past the first floor, I finally conquered Yuriko and her Thanatos Persona. I entered the fight with two characters without Personas because I simply could not risk backtracking, and the fight was mostly doing well until she transformed halfway through and spammed a move that literally one-shotted every one but my main character, who may have been immune thanks to the Lilim Persona he had equipped. I had to finish the boss off with machine gun fire because my character couldn't be repositioned to use his main weapon and I ran out of SP halfway through the fight.

The damn thing is done, and I'm feeling super accomplished. I'm now, most likely over-leveled for the reaming towers, so it should be smooth sailing assuming their isn't anymore "lost forever" key item puzzles. Also, mad props if you spotted all of the elements Atlus and Team Persona used from this game to make Persona 3. ;)

I love how quickly Tracers back off when you start shooting them in the face. They're like "Oi a Mercy, this'll be easy. Just dash past the Reinhardt and Genji, I won't shoot them so they'll ignore me. " The Genji rounded the corner and I couldn't follow him. The Tracer got up in my face so I started shooting and she'd back off for a bit and come back. Finally she got hacked by Sombra and Pharah blew her off the edge. And off in the distance the Genji was singing the song of his people. The three of us dominated the rest of the round. I just dashed between the two and the Tracer gave up.

I played a Magic: The Gathering tournament yesterday and I did well. Really well. Like, I won the tournament! I've been buzzing on it all day today and I still can't believe it. It was so intense. I was facing this player in the finals who just seemed so onto it, counting my cards, observing me as I was clunking around like a rookie would. And I was playing with such a budget deck too! But I snatched the win.

I feel like this has opened up a whole new dimension for gaming for me. It was just so thrilling!
