Rumor has it that Square Enix is working on a new game of a highly super-famous RPG series. Website dualshockers (http://www.dualshockers.com/rumor-square-enix-seeking-developers-numbered-game-super-famous-rpg-series/) reported that a Japanese publisher/developer is looking for new developers. The info was found from an ad on a Japanese career site, ECareerFA. While a particular publisher isn't mentioned they state, "it’s described as having created “huge RPGs” and having launched online games as well. It has a digital entertainment business that provides “high quality games with unique world views” and delivered “a large number of million-sellers.” On top of that, the company has an amusement business based focused on the Taito Station arcades (Taito is owned by Square Enix), a publishing business for manga, and a licensing business." This sounds a lot like Square Enix. Square currently has three franchises that could be considered super famous; Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts. All three franchises currently have games in development (Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dragon Quest XI, and Kingdom Hearts 3).

Could they be working on a new entry from one of these franchises or could it be something entirely different?

I honestly think it's Final Fantasy XVI for PS4, 3DS and Nintendo Switch. Covering all bases to recoup FFXV development costs, as well as the ongoing costs of the FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III. They're doing it for Dragon Quest XI, so why not do the same for Final Fantasy XVI?

I've never played any of the Chrono games but I've only ever heard good things about them.

I'm really hoping for a new Valkyrie Profile, but I know it's never gonna happen.... :(

Again, never played them. I'm not that well versed in the RPG genre outside of Final Fantasy, to be honest, so it would be interesting to see some of these games make a return so I can see what I've been missing.

FFXV since its release has been pretty successful for them, so it's quite possible that this is for the next installment in the series. I feel like VII Remake, DQXI, and KHIII should already be well into development so posting for jobs for it seems unlikely. FFXVI will happen, so they might as well strike while the iron is hot.

You should really give them a try, there are so many good Rpgs worth playing.

I've never played any of the Chrono games but I've only ever heard good things about them.

If you ever decide to give it a try, grab the DS version of Chrono Trigger. It's fantastic. Avoid the Chronicles version because the battle slowdown is awful.

I watched The Know cover this story, and when they mentioned it, they said that the ad pointed out that you'd be working on the next entry in a large series that had previous online installments. And I think Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are the only ones who fit that description in their pocket, aren't they? So it'd almost have to be Final Fantasy XVI

This rumour is not true because they would've released an announcement that they were making a trailer for the announcement of the game's title by now.

Technically we have another day of them revealing things. So far the schedule is pretty bland though. Who knows, maybe they'll show something off near the end and just not talk about it.

They're going to unbox XII?

They'll talk about a trading card game?
