View Full Version : How many Square-Enix games have you completed...

Wolf Kanno

... that is not Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Kingdom Hearts. The "Holy Trinity of the company is well known enough that I'm sure several FF fanms have completed at least two DQ or KH game if you are not a fan, but I'm looking at the less known series created by Square-Enix and their past selves.

Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Secret of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Super Mario RPG, and Just Cause 2. I beat the original Tomb Raider, too, but that was when it was Eidos.

I also have Bravely Default, but haven't finished it yet.

EDIT: Rise of the Sinistrals was a Square game? Add that awesome game to my list, then.

The 7th Saga

Rise of the Sinistrals was a Square game? Add that awesome game to my list, then.Originally no, but they had a hand in the DS remake of Lufia 2.

I would not say Lufia 2 and Breath of Fire count since they weren't developed by Square. Though I think the Enix games definitely do count. Dragon Quest is Enix's series, after all.

Let me look at a list of their releases and I'll get back to you.

Uuuuh I'm sure I've played one or two that I didn't realise where Square Enix. Oh wait, Qwerty mentioned The World Ends With You. There you go.

Bravely Default I haven't played yet but is on my radar.

I mostly agree with Del. I wasn't sure about posting those two.

I forgot about Xenogears. We can add that to the list.

Let's see

Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Radical Dreamers
Bravely Default
Bravely Second
The World Ends With You
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Parasite Eve
Vagrant Story
Xenogears
Super Mario RPG
Sword of Mana

Makai Toushi Saga 1
Live-A-Live (I think I'm actually the first to mention it! Great game!)

Not many, honestly. But quite a few major ones at least. FF1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, DQ, and Xenogears are the only ones that come to mind. I've played a lot, but only beaten a few. If we're going into first party development territory, then Sleeping Dogs, and possibly one of the Tomb Raiders, but I forget when they were acquired. I'm thinking Tomb Raider Legend and Underground might count. Either way, it's a pretty small list compared to the games I've played and not beaten of theirs, and way smaller than their development list

I don't know how I managed to forget The World Ends with You. Xenogears is also a game I have, but haven't finished.

If we're also counting original Enix, then Terranigma goes on my list as well.

Front Mission 3
Chrono Cross

Legend of Mana
Sword of Mana

Vagrant Story
The World Ends With You
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Star Ocean 3: Til the End of Time

I'm pretty close to finishing a handful of other games, but far too lazy to do so.

Paladin's Quest

Bravely Default
Bravely Second

18 total using strict criteria. However, it's pretty loose to call the FF Legend series a FF series so I'm going to give myself those 3 to bring it to 21. 4 Heroes of Light is also questionable since it is basically Bravely Default 0.

I'm pretty certain I'll be the only one to list Paladin's Quest and Robotrek. :D

I've vaguely heard of Live A Live but never played it since it only exists as a fan translation. Same reason why I never finished SD 3. My emulation days are long past so I'd need a legit port to play those gems.

I've played it. A couple of times actually. But never beat it. I don't think I even beat any of the stories or anything. I just dabbled in it once or twice

Wolf Kanno

Yeah, I don't emulate very often so while I've dabbled in several old titles, I almost never finish them. I would have listed Robotrek but my friend moved away and insisted I give the game back to him. :(

Shame, because Live A Live doesn't even get good until the Knight chapter. And then it punches you right in the gut and puts the entire game's premise on its head.

Seriously, this was the Undertale before we even had Undertale when it comes to post-modern plays on player expectations regarding games, or at least good versus evil stories in this one. I really wish more people knew Live A Live, because while I don't think it could win any awards or anything, it was really ahead of its time and still drives its message home very effectively.

Also, Megalomania

(funnily enough, the first video I wanted to link was actually Megalovania, just disguised as Megalomania. Clever troll.)

Vagrant Story

Parasite Eve

I'm terrible at *completing* RPGs, so I'll add to the list games I've spent a considerable amount of time on and plan to beat (so as to flesh out my list, because I'm a dirty cheater)

Chrono Trigger: I chipped away at it from time to time in High School, but I got burned out by the end game, started a new game and having a lot more fun with it

Valkyrie Profile: I LOVE this game, and would've beaten it already if the game allowed me to play Disc 2 (the PS1 US version suffers from a defective print that causes even the tiniest scratch on the disc to render the game unplayable). From what I did play, it's arguably one of my favorite RPGs, and I look forward to the day I can play the whole thing (I hate emulation, and I lack a PSP, but I might cave in to one of those options).

Super Mario RPG: No real excuse here, other than my Wii's at my parents' house 2 states away.

I also plan on beating at least one story in SaGa Frontier, but that game is VERY opaque.

Do Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhander, Front Mission, all the stuff from the PS1 days count? Because I'm a huge fan of those, I'm missing the Mana and SaGa series. But with Square as a publisher on the PS3/4 gen though? Aside from FF, I only play the Tomb Raider series.

As a rogue completionist, I tend to get overly obsessed with collecting and playing mini-games, so I mostly haven't finished most games, though have played quite a lot of SE games.

Ones I finished include Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve 2, Radiata Stories (non-human ending), Life Is Strange, A King's Tale... that's it.

Completed
Tomb Raider 2013
Murdered: Soul Suspect
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Chrono Trigger

Played
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Life is Strange (Completed first chapter only)
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I feel like I've played Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days but I don't know if that was just me remembering Army of Two: The 40th Day, which I know I've played.

Not gonna go the full stretch and pretend that Arkham Asylum is actually a SE game :p

Lemme think here..

Chrono Trigger + Cross, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Seiken Densetsu 3, Sword of Mana, Dawn of Mana, Bravely Default, the two new Tomb Raider games,
Front Mission 4, Radiata Stories, Grandia 3, Valkyrie Profile 1 + 2, Star Ocean 3 4 and 5, World Ends With You, The Last Remnant,
Nier, Parasite Eve 1 + 2 + 3rd Birthday, Deus Ex: Human Revolution + Mankind Divided, Life is Strange, Xenogears, Legend of Mana, Treasure of the Rudras

That's all I can think of, making it at least, uh.. *counts* 30

sneaky edit made it go from 27 to 30.
