Does anyone here have a PS4 Pro? If so, did you upgrade from a standard PS4 (and was it worth it?) or was it the first PS4 that you bought?

I find the concept of a PS4 Pro to be slightly... annoying. Like getting an iPhone and finding a year later that it's already not the top model.

I've got the bog-standard PS4, though I got it for £100 from my brother so I mean, it was an absolute steal. I don't see myself ever getting the Pro version.

I think if you already have a PS4, you don't really get the bang for your buck by dropping another $400 on improved graphics.

But if you never had a PS4, the pro is the prime choice. I had a PS4 which I unfortunately had to sell, so when I get a new one I'll go for the pro.

Yeah, it is annoying. If this is the way console gaming is heading then I'm not going to be buying new consoles at launch. I'll wait until the upgrade comes out instead - with the amount of games coming out there are bound to be a ton that will tide me over until PS5 Pro or whatever it will be called! Also, you got a great deal with that £100 PS4 from your brother!

I'm looking at getting a 4KTV for my bedroom on Black Friday. I don't have a TV in my room yet, and I'm looking at getting a PS4 Pro next year to go with it. That way there will be a PS4 downstairs and in my room and, when I eventually move out (...eventually) then my sister can keep the standard and I'll keep the Pro.

I have a PS4 pro and it's definitely not worth the upgrade if you already have one. I'd almost say it's not worth spending the extra to get at all since the improvements seem pretty minimal and it doesn't have a 4K bluray player or anything.

I knew not to expect drastic differences and just got it because i had the money and wanted 2 ps4s so my fiancé can play her games while I play my rpgs and such.

Do you have a 4KTV then, Scotty?

Also a Glacier White PS4 Pro has just been announced. Want. It's a Destiny 2 bundle though and I don't want the game so I'll wait for a standalone version. I bought the original Destiny bundle to get the white PS4 and I won't be doing the same again!

I have a 4K hdr tv. Stuff does look better, but it's not too noticeable. I notice the hdr more than anything, but even that I think is because I've been able to compare some stuff side by side. PS4 pro also allows you to pick settings on pro enhanced games to favor graphics more or performance more. I think there is a setting that can boost performance on non pro enhanced games too. I never had too much trouble with performance of PS4 games though on the original system, so I've probably not played the games where the better performance of the pro is worth it.

I don't do a lot of heavy gaming on my PS4 though. I tend to play the PS3 more. If you have the money and are getting a new PS4, might as well go with the better one I guess. It's not as big a price difference as the Xbox x or whatever it was called. It just won't be a night and day difference between the systems. If I were living by myself, I wouldn't have found the upgrade worth it. That's just me though.
