I don't care what the competition said, Freya is the best FF character

But no really, who is your actual favorite FF character AND WHY?


For me it's Freya. She was the first female character that seemed to be important, a badass, and NOT sexualized at all. That was pretty hard to come by in gaming for a long while. As a little girl, I thought that was awesome.

I have alot of strong favs, but I think it's a tie between Squall and Terra. I find Squall to be strongly relatable and Terra is admirable because she's so strong mentality.

I think people who saw the FF character tournament are sick to death of hearing who my favourite is and why. :p

Here's a left field one for you, my favourite FFV character is probably Krile. I don't think she's anywhere near as popular as the likes of Faris, Bartz or Galuf, but I think she has an infectious enthusiasm and is good natured. Plus anyone who loves animals can't be bad! Also her sheep outfit is the greatest costume in the history of video games and I wish I could wear it to bed in the winter.

Ramza, imo. The courage to go against the established corrupt government not for his own gain - he doesn't get the recognition he deserves until hundreds of years later, until which he's branded a heretic - but just to do good. To bring justice. To stop the evil brewing within this corrupt world. Though it takes him a while to get there, as he starts as a pretty sheltered, dare I say *privileged* kid. Still, by the end of the day, he really doesn't care what happens to him and what people think about him - he's doing what he believes to be right.

It's hard to choose only one character because I love so many of them, but I think it's Noctis. I connect with him a lot. He's awkward, funny sensitive and caring, and he also hides a lot of strength.

It has always been my namesake. Final Fantasy VIII has a special place in my heart because it was my first Final Fantasy and as a young person making my way in the world I appreciated a main character who was an outcast with insecurities who put on a tough front.

Freya is easily a Tier 2 type of favorite for me. And tied w/ Amarant as my favorite FF9 character.

The only Tier 1 favs I have are Vincent, Irvine, and Quistis. But my Tier 2 favs list is about a dozen deep. So hypothetically, Freya is anywhere between my #4 favorite to my #15ish favorite lol. FF is just that deep w/ great characters for me.

But I agree w/ OP. Freya was kinda different than any other FF character I had experienced during the "Golden Era". She was a loner, a bit depressed it seemed, an old soul, honorable, and a true badass warrior with a very unique look. She quickly became a favorite of mine.

But back to my Tier 1s. I'd like to say Vincent is easily my favorite out of those 3 Tier 1 characters, but Irvine and Quistis are really close.

As for Freya's competition in Tier 2, it'd be her, Fran, Fang, Rydia, Kimahri, Gabranth, Sabin, General Leo, Amarant, and Squall. Cecil, Guy, Gordon, Edward, Elena, Zack, Red XIII, Rikku, and Lulu are close to Tier 2, but probably Tier 3...which includes even more lol.
