A few years ago when I talked to a few of this community's longtime members, they expressed that there was something about Sean (Cid) that just drew people together, and made you feel like you belonged, and could talk to him, even if you didn't really know each other that well. It was a sweet sentiment, but clearly there was something to it. I just saw on twitter that he won a teacher of the year award, and those conversations I had came back to me when I read this description of him:

"Although others may see him as quiet and mild-mannered, in the classroom he transforms into a comedian, actor, singer, dancer, voice impersonator, storytelling, game show host and newscaster. He states, 'Even if students are cringing just as often as they are laughing, at least they are always awake, engaged and learning. As a result, students feel safe to ask questions and participate without fearing judgment from me or their peers.'"

What a guy. May we all strive to make life better for those around us.

I met Sean only once but he struck me as a nice dude. He certainly started something magical here. Makes sense that he would also be great at shaping young minds. Great job!

Sean was cool. I didn't appreciate him enough when he was here. There was one time I was very upset and being very unreasonable (I know, who would have thought that from me) and he PMed me to talk things out.

Anyway, I remember him talking about wanting to be a teacher. It's nice to see that not only did he accomplish that goal, but he is excelling at.

It's crazy to see him look so wizened and professor-ly. I still remember pictures from him living above his parent's garage in high school.

That is a really fascinating way to come full-circle. He started off fostering a community, now he's fostering young minds. That's wonderful.

I never met him but I think I've seen some of his posts from when I lurked back in the day. It's great that's he going places in life :)

It makes me wonder what some of my old forum buddies (from my old hangouts) are up to these days as we were all teens/kids back in the day.

I keep up with him via social media and it's amazing to see the amount of respect his students have for him! Great guy, well deserved.

The last time Sean posted here was over three years ago in my retirement thread. I know the guy is busy developing the leaders of the next generation, but the least the guy could do is come in here and thank us for lavishing him with all this praise.

I don't know that I ever spoke with him...

But I'm glad that he's doing so well.
