That could be taken a few ways.

If you spend time leaping with Gau, he's easily one of the best, if not the best, fighters of your party. If you don't bother training with him at the Veldt, he's basically a throwaway character.

Did you spend time learning rage moves? I've done some, but I never wanted to try for the complete rage list. Even with the emulator-like features of the SNES Classic, it's just too time consuming.

I stick around long enough to get a few of the high end ones then I'm back to doing the story.

I once tried to get a substantial amount but was never dedicated enough to really get them all.

I've had one file where I got like 90% of them. There are just a few that are too freaking rare to get, and if you plan to do something like this, you need to start in the WoB cause it is a pain in the ass once the WoR starts. None of this is helped that the game is bugged and like three of the Rages can never be gained without hacking.

I spent a fair bit of time doing this. I don't remember how many I hadn't left (I will check) but I ended up giving up

I invested 70 hours into my last play through of FFVI. 30-35 of those hours were spent on the Veldt. Even then I didn't get close to getting them all. Inevitably, once I'd leaped with Gau to get a rare Rage, another rare Rage would appear in the next fight and the little sh*t didn't come back.

Never got all the rages, however I never really tried to get them all. One play through I obtained a dozen of them and continued the story. When selecting a Rage to use it would take a moment or so to find one that would work, unless you had a go to (Templar, M-Tek Armor, cough cough) I might try to get them all during my current play through that I'm recording for my channel with a friend, but I might now either... well see.

Nah, never cared enough to try. Its much simpler to just not use Gau and carry on.

I was certainly never gonna collect 100% of them, but I did find it was a good way to simultaneously grind out spells without gaining levels. Gau forces you to really pay attention to what enemies do what, but it's never remotely important.

You only really need Stray Cat, Pterodon, and Retainer.
