One of my coworkers' 8-year-old kids came into the office and we had some fun trash talk with each other about football. And then he said he could beat me at FIFA and I was like, kid, I played my first FIFA game before you were even born I would stomp you into the dust. Back in my day it was a PS1! And, well, yeah. Blimey. Doesn't half make me feel old.

The worst thing about it is that his IRL football team beat mine and he specifically sent a message through his mother to me that I got rekt. She had no idea what the word meant but dutifully delivered it to me anyway, and apparently ever since he is really pleased with himself for telling me that! Little git. I'll get him yet!

Almost every time I say see a facebook post similar to if we had that taught in school, or if blah blah blah happened when we were younger, I'm always like, they did teach me that in school/they did do that.

I was "back in my daying" with my friends about Pokemon just the other night. We have all played maybe one of the games since it changed the perspective to that 3D look and were talking about how weird it was for us. But still, only one save per game so some things don't change at least :'D

I honestly don't think there is anything I could genuinely say that about that kids wouldn't be able to relate to, because pretty much everything I did in my day, are things kids still do now. In fact, those that are new things, is still translatable - I don't even feel the need to say "back in my day we didn't have iPads" because a)it's redundant to point out that something wasn't invented in the past and b) nothing has really changed because of their existence ultimately.

I can think of something to say about what I assume is the adults of this generation, which is "Back in my day, we didn't see political correctness everywhere we looked", but do kids do that? I'd assume it was the adult.

Also, I still consider it to be "my day", even though I say "Back in my day..." It ultimately doesn't mean "My generation/Younger generation" when I say it - I even used it when I'm criticising something an older person does.

My Back in my day comment was in reference to makeup. "Back in my day we had to look awkward through puberty and didn't understand how to do our eyebrows. We didn't have youtube beauty gurus!"

Was at a convention a couple years back, and some teens in front of me and my fiancee were talking about about how Sailor Moon was before their time. Conversation ensued about how much better anime was back in our day. Made me feel old.

"Back in my Day" Germany was two countries. I also remembered a time when the internet was not prominent at all and parents were more concern about TV ruining our minds cause we spent all our time on it. I remember when debates didn't involve Google.

Me and Formy live right next to a college (16-18 year olds, just to be clear, not to be confused with American use of the word to refer to universities), and I bet none of them even know what dial-up sounded like, or what a fax machine is, or what it feels like to get nothing from static on your TV because of a bad signal that day.

I can't think of a single show that has had the dial up modem sound in it that a modern kid would have watched... To be honest, I don't know if I've ever heard it in anything other than a commercial, but then I don't watch every show. It is worth noting that there is nothing stopping modern kids watching shows that aired when we were younger, especially if they still air now (as a kid, you tend not to care that it came out before your time, in my experience if you discovered it "now" then it is a "now thing" to you.) - I have no idea if the dialup sound has been used in anything, old or new, but I know that the other things have.
