SE just released Chrono Trigger on Steam, it is a port of the DS version so it will feature the Lost Sanctum and Dimensional Vortex content added to it, and the game also has some tracks remixed by Yasunori Mitsuda and a few visual updates as well. It will also come with a musical medley and some wallpapers as well.

Annnnnnd... it's a really shitty port of the mobile version. :(

Is there any noticeable downgrade from the DS remake to the mobile port? It's hard to get an idea of the difference from this trailer.

Just from the trailer, I've noticed the inelegant menus and health bars. One area where Square's mobile games all seem to suffer.

Sigh. I'd buy the SNES version on Steam, probably. I won't buy this garbage mobile-version remake with obvious touch menus, worse graphics, a horribly mismatched font, and god knows what other problems that I can't discern immediately.

I saw one image across my Facebook feed earlier today and thought "I wonder if they fucked it up like all the other recent PC ports" and yup. Is there nobody in charge of processing the sheer amount of public backlash re: their visual "upgrades"? Or is it simply a matter of steam being convenient enough to convince a few folks to pony up the cash? Outrageous.

I mean, the XII port is excellent. But then again, I think different people might be handling the more pricey games, while the older, cheaper, 90s titles just get regular ports of the mobile versions. Shame.

I was thinking of picking it up, but an overwhelming majority of the reviews on Steam are negative. And most of the positive reviews are also negative.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I keep forgetting Zodiac Age is a thing because I haven't picked it up yet, but it stands out as like an exceptional port in the era of Bad Square Ports™
