Now before you hate on me, I need dubbed recommendations.

Also I don't like overly boobalicious ones, and magical girls is also not okay.

Alright, go.

I would recommend more but I don't even know what has a dub from my fave animu.

Also genres that you are inclined towards would be helpful.

Well See, the fiance and I just watched one of his first animes since he was a kid. We watched another recently with our friends but he wasn't as into it.

So of semi recent things we saw Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Steins;Gate. He adored FMA:B, now says it's the best show he's ever seen even to my amusement because he didn't want to watch it until I made him, so anything similar to that would be great. I'm not too into magical girls and neither is he. I also am not a fan of random boobphysics or harem type animes.

We like mechas from our wee little years of watching gundam and we enjoy some classics like bebop

After some brief thought: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. My Hero Academia.

On the less action heavy side: Recovery of an MMO Junkie. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

I'll be back.

Oh Assassination Classroom maybe too. Baccano! Kino's Journey.

Freya

I have heard of those first two but can you explain what some of these others are?

Shauna

I SUPPOSE. I've went through a few different genres tbh, but I enjoyed them all.

MMO Junkie: 30+ year old woman quits her job to play video games. Follows her life.

Saiki: straight up comedy. The story of a kid who has psychic powers and the people he unfortunately finds himself surrounded by.

AssClass: An alien promises to destroy the world, but allows a low-achieving class the chance to save the world by training them to assassinate him.

Baccano! - a character driven anime tbh. It is a bunch of stories about people that seem disconnected at first, but all come together in the end.

Kino's Journey - Kino travels the world with a talking motorbike called Hermes. They visit various countries that all have their own quirks.

SHAUNA DON'T CALL IT ASSCLASS COME ON.

Right, dubs! I can't speak to how good the dub is but these are good shows that have them. I support all of Shauna's above except Saiki because I have not seen it.

"My Love Story" - The best animated romantic comedy series.

"No Game No Life" - May make you uncomfortable at times with boobs and suggestive imouto but it's about 2 genius gamers dragged into an alternate word to play games against genius fantasy races (like elves and catgirls). Think 'Magic chess from Harry Potter' but a whole series.

"Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun" - Possibly the second best animated romcom. Much more comedy than romance here because Nozaki-kun is such a dunce. But a likable one.

"Log Horizon" - Real life has turned into an MMO! Whatever will we do!? This is a pretty good example of the genre.

"Flying Witch" - If you wanna chill the hell out with something cute and comfy with some light magic tricks, this has you covered.

P.S. if you ever come to your senses about magical girls watch Flip Flappers. It's weird and not like normal magical girl shows.

Will avoid going into detail about plots because I hat that.

Slice of Life
Nana. Adult-ish (early 20s) with everything that comes with such an age, but without needless nudity etc. Probably my favourite slice of life anime without question. Note: Ending is left open to interpretation as to what actually happens next as the artist never completed the works (they intend to someday) but honestly still worth watching and everyone I know that has seen it was pretty satisfied despite the lack of major finale (the last episode is still very much a finishing episode in it's own way). My fave anime so far, probably. Also, excellent English dub according to myself and everyone I've known that has watched it in English dub so far.

Nisekoi and/or Tokidoki. Both summed up as teen slice of life, lots of fun. One of them (Nisekoi if I recall correctly) has a few twists to make it interesting such as having one of the characters being a child of a Yakuza fam, while the other works on a more realistic teen slice of life thing.

Action
Attack on Titan, as mentioned earlier by many.
Gangsta, I found this to be pretty neat. Basically about a couple of gangsters.
No Game No Life, as Fox mentioned. Definitely has a lot of creepy/pervy fanservice bits but honestly worth looking past them.
My Hero Academia. I've been watching this with Sarah lately and we're enjoying it! The English voice acting isn't amazing but it's solid enough for us to watch that way. There's one sticky-ball character which is horrid but the rest are decent at the least.

Drama
Planetes, a very good sci-fi anime which starts out kind of slice-of-life style and finishes up in a much more dramatic fashion.

Pretty sure they all had voice acting.

And then there's Neo Yokio if you want to experience a truly special English dub.

I see BoB already recommended Nana. Try Paradise Kiss as well - it’s be the same woman and it’s pretty much just as good, if much shorter

One I haven't seen mentioned yet is Seven Deadly Sins. It does have some fanservice but for the most part it's a good action series.

Code Geass is a good mecha one. There is a touch of fanservice, but it's not horrible. Full Metal Panic! is also pretty good. Both are dubbed. Blue Exorcist is one of my favorites, but it suffers greatly from going in a separate direction of the manga halfway through the first season. Season two keeps to the manga, and pretty much ignores everything after ep 17 of the first series.

Yup. On Netflix there's also Fate Apocrypha, which might be slightly more confusing at first because it's part of the whole Fate franchise and doesn't bother explaining the setting very well, but that's also good action.
(Although the second half of Apocrypha isn't on Netflix yet)

Have you seen Samurai Champloo? If not, it's from the guy behind Cowboy Bebop, and in my opinion every inch as good. Just for slightly different reasons. But still, great use of all ingredients, comedy, drama, action, and even quite a few thoughtful episodes and stuff. And it bucks the typical anime trend of following a specific route, and opts more to be like an american cartoon, in which it doesn't specifically matter what order you watch most episodes in, but still best to watch them in order. It's just nice to have a great anime that has more of an adventure-a-day feel. Very Avatar: The Last Airbender (which if either of you haven't watched, should be a must, even if it's not "anime", I don't know many anime fans that don't find it compelling)

I've debated on this one. I've seen it but he hasn't. He LOVES Bebop so I may make him watch this one for sure.

Okay we started Attack on Titan last night.

What a weird show. Not sure I like the art style. I'm also not a fan when they zoom in on eyes and it's hyper quality. The change in art is jarring.

On top of my mind:

Death Parade: Go. Watch. It. Right. Now.

Erased: One of the best anime I watched in a while. It's about a person with the ability to go back in time to re-live certain events of his own life and the possibility to change the outcome.

Devilman Crybaby (Netflix): This is just a masterpiece, even though it's not for everyone. The animation style is very unique, there is A LOT of blood, gore and violence. Story and characters are amazing.

A couple of more recent shows:

A.I.C.O Incarnation (Netflix): I finished it today and I thought it was pretty good. It's a sci-fi anime with good action, story and main characters. It's only 12 episodes though.

Saga of Tanya the Evil: I was skeptical about this one at first, but it turned out to be really fun and entertaining to watch thanks to great action, comedy and a really good main character. The first episode may seem weird, but the second one explains a lot of what happens, so wait at least until get to that.

What about some classics like Evangelion? Also, since some people already suggested Nana, I'm going with Ancient Magus Bride. Jojo is a must watch.
