Yes, Rampage starring Dwayne Johnson, is a movie based on a video game. However, whereas the goal of Rampage the game is simply to destroy as much as possible and eat people, the monsters in the movie have an actual goal of reaching a particular place, destroying and warring along the way.

Most games based on movies are lacking in plot and interesting gameplay. So a couple of questions arise as to the playability of this hypothetical: what kind of gameplay could we expect? If the gameplay is just the same as the original game it may not be worth it just for updated graphics.

The idea of a Dwayne Johnson-led Spyhunter game didn't really pan out so well, but then there was never a Spyhunter movie to base it around.

My best idea for a new version of Rampage game is kinda like combining Dino Crisis, Shadow of the Colossus and the Last Guardian. So you've naturally got a lot of running around, a lot of heavy artillery, can't pass up a chance to go on the offensive with an Apache chopper (more fun than pursuing is attacking), and at some point your Dwayne's Johnson starts giving directions to his giant ape friend to help him save the day. Add in Larry the Rat and a few other minor Rampage cameos (giant insects, et al), and call it a game.
