Could this be a movie used as a visual reference in FF7 ?

I don't know what to think about it. Do you ?

Yeah, the camera work is spot on to Aerith's scene in the opening. Very likely it was used as a reference piece by the animators. I wonder what film it is?

Could there be a relation with the statement from the debug rooms, "...This Is Hades" ?!!

I always thought that Aerith was just there on a little walk and benefit a leak in a mako pipe to pay respect to her relatives (ancients) :D
But if the girl enters the Hades realm in this scene (and that there's a real connection with the movie which is far from proved),
maybe Aerith has just entered Midgar here through this leak ! I guess she could have spawned in the alley on purpose, just in time to meet Cloud...

Or is this not a scoop...

It looks more like a programmer's joke. Having taken programming before, it wasn't uncommon for us to place fun comments in the code to screw with the teacher or other classmates who had to use it. Considering how boring coding and debugging can be, I can see a programmer adding a reference to being in hell in the code. ;)

I'm glad you're refraining me, I was coming with things like :
Midgar and Gaia might be the hellish side of Spira (kind of like the underworld of Stanger Things). Both would be linked through the life stream.
