Keeper of Fate

I don't know about you guys but I got a serious "LOST" vibe when that black mist started swirling around Aerith and Cloud.

We now know that the mist is called "Keeper of Fate", and we have no idea what that means. But that's good, because we can speculate.

Personally I believe that the "Keeper (Keepers?) of Fate" will be an expansion on the Cetra storyline. Somehow, somewhere the "Keepers of Fate" are witnessing the destruction of the planet and are forewarning Aerith about upcoming events.

Perhaps they're some kind of "police force" of the Lifestream who are trying to prevent its destruction. However Aerith is scared of them so she seems to be unaware of who they are even though she's a Cetra - either she didn't learn enough about them or maybe the Cetra didn't know that much about them. They could even be antagonists of the Cetra in some sense if they perceive the Cetra as some kind of abberation/indirect threat to the Lifestream themselves.

Maybe the Keepers of Fate will tie in to those dudes in thr Temple of the Ancients.

Part of me wonders if they are the Cetra, as that was my initial opinion. Another part of me wonders if they might be some sort of break off from Sephiroth much like his "shades" in Advent Children since they also had the black smoke visual effect going for them as well and usually anything colored black in VII is associated with him or Jenova. Overall, I feel them being the Cetra would be less damaging to the narrative.

Yeah, it was revealed during a Famitsu interview. Looking forward to finding out some more details in regards to this.
