How many times have you played the game?

Like the title says. How many playthroughs have you done on Final Fantasy VI? Be it just one version of the game, or all of them?

I've done one playthrough of the original SNES version and one playthrough of the PlayStation re-release and that's about it.

I play all the versions, many times. When I was younger, I played it all the time with my father LOL and now I still play it once a year since it's my favorite FF game.

More than I can count. I’ve played the SNES version (emulated), GBA, iOS and Steam. GBA is the definitive version imo

More times than I can remember. Played the original SNES version at least a dozen times growing up. The PS1 port at least three times, the GBA version about two times, and got about halfway through the infamous Skyrender version through emulation. Discovered a much better translation that uses the GBA script as the basis which I've yet to play though. I haven't played the mobile version since the new sprites offend me. :headdesk:

Honestly, the Slattery script pays a lot of lip service to the Woosely script. You can tell he was a big fan of the original. So he kept a lot of the fun lines in. The real change for the game was finally having enough space in dialogue boxes to translate the whole sentence, whereas Woosely often had to compromise because of the text limitations on the SNES.

It's true. Woolsey is a fantastic translator who had to deal with a lot of the limitations that plagued the industry at that point, and it's no wonder current-day translators still respect him so much. Slattery definitely knows how to make his translations sing (his FFIV DS and FFT WotL translations are just impeccable), but he's working in a much more relaxed environment than Woolsey ever did.

Seriously, read some interviews with Woolsey. I think it was Secret of Mana specifically that I heard his take on, and in that he basically had a limited time to play the entire game and translate every little text box he could find. As someone who has worked on modern video game translation, I can tell you that is insane.
