This Tuesday is the 20th Anniversary of Final Fantasy IX and as such, I wanted to pay proper tribute to my favorite Final Fantasy game and one of my favorite games of all time. Square-Enix sometimes glosses over these milestones with little more than a social media post, but I thought that IX deserved appropriate recognition.

This is a 4-part 20th Anniversary Retrospective that looks back, disc-by-disc, at what made Final Fantasy IX so unforgettable and so special.

If you're interested in reliving Final Fantasy IX on its anniversary this week, consider checking out. This was a passion project and comes from a die-hard fan only wanting to do this milestone justice. I really hope some of you get some enjoyment out of it.

Cheers everyone.

Final Fantasy 9 is 20 years old. I feel ancient. Time to go to the retirement home, I guess.

Is it weird that for me, it seems like it was both longer than 20 years and shorter than 20 years at the same time? Can't explain it. Might be because of how often I revisit it.

Thanks to everyone who has checked it out, I've added Part 2 that focuses on Disc 2 to the original post.

And Happy Anniversary to FF9!

If anyone feels old, it is probably me. I was 12 when it first released. As for when I finally played it, not until this past April.

Disc 3 is now up. Definitely the bulkiest disc of the game, I forgot how much there is to do, even just in side content!

Feeling real old right now. I have to replay this game by the end of the year. I owe it. I haven't played this in so long. I used to play it at least once a year. I stopped due to personal issues.

The entire series is now complete and available! Thanks to everyone for their wonderful comments on the series. I'm so glad others found as much joy in watching it as I did in making it.
