A thread where we can mindlessly vent about work.

I've been sent a broken alternator 3 times in a row for one project.

I waited two weeks for a specific clutch kit to come in on another project, and when it arrived they sent me the wrong clutch kit. ETA on the correct kit? Two weeks.

By the time the parts for these projects finally show up it will be spilling over into time I have scheduled for the next series of projects.

What's the drama where you're employed?

My current job is far better than my last one in terms of... well pretty much everything. But some of the teachers I have to contact as a consultant are just incredibly hostile for no reason and that’s enough to ruin a good day sometimes

Push that clutch kit back to a full month out. Went with a backup option.

My busy time of the year is always right before the fall semester starts up, so things are kinda super crazy right now. Big crunch to get things in etc. Nothing I haven't been through before, but man, crunch sucks.

Do you teach directly, or some other part of the system? Either way, I can imagine this year is especially difficult. Good luck. :salute:

Aha, no, I think I gave the wrong impression... I write software that universities license :) All the respect in the world to teachers dealing with this crap, though.

If there's a large amount of dust buildup on your work vent, please consult your current shift maintenance technician for a thorough cleaning. You don't want to breathe it in, to say nothing of how visually unappealing it is to a clean workspace.

Oh I did have a weird team-building seminar thing they made my department do this week. It was awkward.

I got an angry email because our pharmacy has barely done any flu shots. It's summer. IT. IS. SUMMER.

We are telling people "yes we have the flu shot, yes you can get one now if you'd like, but CDC suggests to wait until early fall as they tend to protect for maybe 6 months. If you get a flu shot now you may not have protection during peak season. It's better to get one early than never, so if later is not a practical option then sure we can give one to you now no problem." Most people are receptive to that and have opted to come in later. Upper management is trying to guilt trip us. "This isn't about getting the sales, it's about educating and protecting!" Then why are they insisting on vaccinating when it's not clinically appropriate? Why vaccinate early and leave more people vulnerable during peak season? Not to mention, if we wait until a more appropriate time we'll have less COVID going around for people to catch. We got these smurfers in JULY. I extra hate this because it adds fuel into the anti-vax fire when the company does trout like this.

Also one of the two pneumonia shots are no longer recommended to be given to anyone besides babies, so that is going to be a huge chunk of our annual vaccine sales gone and hundreds of thousands of dollars of vaccines gone to waste, so you can be sure they're going to slash hours to compensate :nonono:

Someone pooped on me. And then had the audacity to stop breathing.

People keep quitting or transferring because they can't handle the workload at our location, meanwhile their responsibilities are just being piled on to the few of us remaining, making more people want to leave.

And on top of this, I now need a second job to be able to pay next month's rent plus the loans I had to take out to pay this month's rent, since my beloved wife took nearly all our savings and ran off to Florida with her 19 year old boyfriend.
