It's cool, but I would have preferred Tifa for her more different fighting style, and because I prefer to play protagonists than antagonists :P

Mystic Quest is such a hazy memory for me. It was my first ever FF. Though I can’t talk about it at all, I honestly have a hard time believing it’s as bad as everyone claims.

It's not bad so much as it is painfully simplistic. It's DQ1 but with easier gameplay and the narrative is on rails.

I am one of the biggest FF fans out there. It is my favorite video game franchise, but damn I am tired of Sephiroth. It's cool that Final Fantasy got another rep, but another VII character? Damn, the whole series isn't VII. I really would've liked someone from any other game, preferably someone that could represent the whole series so we could get music from multiple games and a different stager, but that's kind of hard, but anyone that's not from VII.

Sakurai's showcase with him was interesting, but I'm still disappointed.

I agree it was disappointing to give it to another VII character even if the memes have been hilarious. I would have preferred Warrior of Light honestly, especially for the chance to have him go up against the DQ hero.

I understand everyone's burnout from FFVII. It's kind of a monkey paw's situation. No matter how anyone feels about FFVII itself, a great many fans launched it to the pop culture stratosphere as far as a 90s game goes.

As a huge FFIV fan, you sort of see the same thing there. That was a huge game in Japan to the point where the "Theme of Love" is apparently a common piece used in early music classes. That's why there were so many ports, a sequel game many years later, and remakes/ports of even the sequel game.

Anyway, as a filthy casual Smash player, Sephiroth feels great to play as. Love the victory screens, and the new stage they made is a loving tribute to the end sequence of the OG FFVII.

While it is more FFVII stuff, I love that there is finally more than literally just two vanilla FFVII tracks. The Tifa, Barret, and stuff like the Chocobo hat that's coming with Sephiroth's arrival is pretty cool. Who knows? Maybe more FF stuff on the way? I won't be surprised if not, but nothing wrong with hoping.
