I only have Bravely Default on 3DS and Octopath Traveler on Game Pass (so I can lose access to it in the future). But w/ some recent announcements like the Octopath Traveler 2 reveal and Triangle Strategy coming to PC, it got me wondering if I should put more priority on their games. Below are the ones I'm interested in, again a couple I already "have", but have never played.

Bravely Default
Bravely Second: End Layer
Bravely Default 2
Octopath Traveler
Triangle Strategy

As a PC (and 3DS) player, which do you recommend to play first? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on Octopath Traveler. Mostly positive stuff, but a lot of the cons I read about seem to maybe be big cons for me. Triangle Strategy looks really cool w/ some of its decision mechanics. But...how long are the battles? I've sort of fallen out of love w/ tactics games due to the risk of an long, extended battle I can't simply exit out of if I get tired/need to go. The Bravely series probably looks most appealing to me. But I can also get my "standard" JRPG fix anywhere, w/o spending the money to get the other 2 games.

Also, how is the Octopath Traveler mobile game?

Thanks for any input!

Both Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default are excellent, but frustrating. The battles in OT are very, verrrrry long which can get a bit tiresome, and Bravely Default gets incredibly repetitive towards the end.

Having said that though, I'd probably recommend trying Bravely Default first, since it's a throwback to old-school FFs and has a great job system. The characters are also fantastic. Bravely Second isn't as good but definitely still enjoyable, although some of the job classes are just ridiculous (Catmancer? Really?).

You can also be a Patissier and bake cakes mid-battle.

Cats AND baked goods?? (seriously 2 of my favorite things) Why weren't those greenlit for Bravely Default 2???

btw, I ordered Bravely Second a few days ago. ETA is late October. I still want/need to play Bravely Default 1 first tho.
