Chrono Trigger turns 30.

Feel old, like I do. Chrono Trigger came out 30 years ago this month. Apparently Squenix has plans, but nothing that will be revealed until maybe next year.

What are your thoughts on this timeless classic?

A friend of mine is streaming it lately, and another did recently too. It's fun seeing a classic go through the rounds! I've forgotten so much of it - I should play it again someday, but my backlog is kind of insane.

It does surprise me this game hasn't been given the remaster treatment just yet. I guess they are debating whether to play it safe or go all in on how to do it, whether it's just a simple remaster with graphical upscaling or if they might go for the HD 2D style like the recent DQ remakes or Octopath.

Like of all of their golden age titles, this is the one glaring omission.

I just posted in another thread about CT being the perfect game for its time. Great replayability. I'm also disappointed in SE not doing more with this IP. I want my kids to play this game so bad, but I feel they are 1-2 years away from truly appreciating it. They also didn't grow up with this genre of game so it is hard to get them into something more deliberate like this.
