So it is certainly conceivable that we will get FFVII Remake Part 3 next year.

It will have a difficult challenge. Remake Part 1 was feeding a pent up demand and re-introduced us to that beloved world and its characters. Rebirth then perfected that formula with an open world experience that kept the whimsy of the original but upgraded in many key ways. It also covered the bulk of the key set pieces for the game and ended with the most pivotal and famous moment.

Part 3 does still have Wutai, Rocket Town, and the Northern Continent to cover. And how they tackle the underwater section will be fun to see, as well as the Weapon battles. And we'll also see Cid and Vincent as playable. Some good things to work with but it will be hard to follow Rebirth.

What do you all want to see in Remake 3?

The ability to visit every location in one game.

Some kind of mechanism to use the mechanics of the various chocobos anywhere in the world, allowing us to explore and find ways to reach interesting areas of the map.

A whole lot more time with Tifa.

The bitterness in Cid to come out, because while I do like Cid, I want that tension with him and Shera to be there.

Not a single mention of Genesis, please. That never happened.

Some incredible battle arenas that aren't simply large flat areas of land.

More Zach.

More off-the-beaten-path plot that is still tasteful (the track record is there so I'm all for it).

What I don't want is a miracle "and all the people who passed away returned to life" scenario. It would cheapen the theme of loss that has always been prominent in Final Fantasy VII. But I would like to see some real funeral moments, for all those that do pass on by the end of the game.

Flashbacks of Red with his family. I was really surprised this didn't feature in the trials because every other one of the characters featured a trial based on a theme and there is absolutely a way they could have done the same with Red.

A conclusion to the Gi Tribe.

More of the good minigames, less of the... less-good minigames.

The final revelation to how everyone who trusted the big youtubers was wrong because the OG lore as wel as Remake and Rebirth made it very clear that this, as long as they do not retcon even more than they already did, cannot be a literal time story. It is a story of spiritual realms, of potentials or as Ever Crisis calls it, "possibilities", no corporeal univeses and timelines. Which anyone would have known had they thought about the Remake of planetology or the fact that we had 7 Stamp dogs confirmed but none of those worlds was the PS1 world so obviously - as long as they did not mess up - it cannot be any of that. A story that is actually more in line with established lore to what was done 30 years ago and can bring a proper conclusion to everthing the Compilation left open since 2005
Sephiroth meeting Lucrecia but keeping the Ever Crisis Jenova inclusion as tame as possible. They retconned that she manipulated him as a teenager by showing him illusions like she did with the Cetra. We get it, Square. You read the stupid John Brittenham theory and use Jenova having some effect on him to make him more sympathetic even though your own text on the PS1 made that impossible. Now stick to what you did in the OG and do not go any further than that she talked to him like a devil on his shoulders and do not say that she mind controlled him just so you can pull a Master Xehanort "very well done, I am proud of you, Sora" ending. If you want to redeem him do it in his final moments and not in a "oh, he was a tragic victim all along even though that 30 years ago was impossible" way.
More inclusion of Kazushige Nojima's writing. He has his inconsistencies but Rebirth had so many writers they retconned a lot of things.
Any form of Genesis and Weiss wrap up after Dirge of Cerberus.
The final conclusion of Sephiroth after Advent Children - but they already play with the ideas of making another one after part 3 so maybe they keep it for later just like Genesis.
The Cloud was not a SOLDIER scene being combined with "you realize the woman you see all the time was killed by me?" and then showing Aerith's death scene leading to Cloud losing it and giving Sephiroth the Black Materia
Sephiroth revealing it was all a part of his elaborate plan and tieing everything back to reality by Morikawa Toshiyuki saying "Watashi wa ... omoi de ni wa naranai sa."
The title being called Remembrance, Reality, Revelation or Resonance
after the tie in to AC you can unlock the AC outfits
Super Nova being Sephiroth's 3rd Game Over attack ultimately burying this made up nonsense that Sephiroth casts an illusion which was never said in the game and that he just canonically never did it
Chaos being included, also in Lucrecia's Cave but having more story relevance than battle relevance; I except a "soul wrought of terra corrupted" reference
Rebirth Sephiroth with Birth of a God
Jenova Synthesis waiting inside of the Planet but before she attacks she is disguised as Aerith
Knights of the Round having a story cutscene against a Weapon because that is what Kingsglaive did with the Lucian Kings and Diamond Weapon
Ruby Weapon attacking the Gold Saucer leading to a story fight
Emerald Weapon attacking Costa del Sol leading to a story fight
Sapphire Weapon attacking Junon leading to a story fight
not any more Turks battles than we had in the OG
no more Rufus battles except if he meets Cloud during the Midgar Raid leading to Cloud leaving the office as Diamond Weapon strikes
no more Corneo Apzu battles
no more robotic Arachnids and Insects
dial down the Wutaian conflict and the whole Glenn, Matt, Lucia stuff; the story is bloated enough already; you can keep that for a spin off
Hojo teasing his virtualization and readying his path to Omega revealing like he did after the Weiss battle and the cutscene where he experimented on dead bodies for the whole Chadley thing in one of the cutscenes that he did that to work on the persistence of him still living as virtual consciousness
Bone Village getting a story extension explaining that it was the excavation site of Jenova
The Forgotten Capital having a proper section when the Key to the Ancients is relevant
more overworld physics, the foliage in Rebirth looked terrible; FFXV had more focus on environmental physics
the Ancient Forest now is, as it was originally intended a connection piece to get from Bone Village to the Coral Valley; that is if Bone VIllage still will be connected to the Sleeping Forest at all; but any sort of connection will hopefully be made
that being said, if they do that Ultima Weapon will probably explode somewhere else; maybe its battle in Mideel will lead to its death leading for the ground to open up - then again you do not have Cloud at that time to get Ultimate Weapon, so who knows but it would be cool and naratively fitting
the Zack flashback in the Shinra Manor being mandatory
the hidden helix staircase appears because the weirdly included elevator is broken or inactive
any sort of mentioning of Banora, Modeoheim, Rhadoran or the likes

Gosh reading these replies just got me so hyped. My favorite scene from the original game was when Tifa is helping Cloud put his memories back together, I just really hope we get a little more time in that scene, I want hearts and souls poured into it.
