Recently I've been noticing that its been sucking real bad on me. It crashes a lot, has a lot of script errors and the ads for the online casinos have sound on them now which is ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING when I'm trying to listen to my music.... I was just wondering what file-swapping program you people used but isn't as messed up. I used to use Morpheus but after the big update after their server went down, I hated the format. Any suggestions?

Don't bother to use Kazaa. It's evil and their network is going down. Soon Kazaa will be officially removed. :D

Either go with Direct Connect, iMesh or Morpheus.

Direct Connect would be best for apps/video files, probably audiogalaxy (remove the spyware first :p ) or what Squally menti0oned for music :)

I guess I'll start using it again, but what do you mean by spyware?

It uses Gator/GAIN, a spyware program. :)

Well, if you like using KaZaA, try Grokster at www.grokster.com. It's basically identical to KaZaA minus the spyware. :)

Yeah, but the point of not using Kazaa anymore is that it's network is supposed to be going down for good sometime in the near future :p

yeah, since the place to download KaZaA and Morpheus is blocked at school, a lot of people started using Grokster cause its just like KaZaA and Morpheus. But if a lot of people are on KaZaA and its shutting down in the near future, I guess I'll use AG for my musical needs...

I too have a question, about KaZaA Lite (The no spyware version). A friend of mine who just got back from college recomended it to me for finding obscure Anime. However, with AVI files, If I try to preview them, Windows Media Player (The most recent one) says that it doesn't have the right filters to play. Do I have to wait until the download is finished to preview it, or is my download a wasted effort?

You can't generally watch an incomplete AVI file in Media Player, seeeing as the main stuff Media Player needs to read the file is stored at the end of the file :p

Thanks Crono_Logical. It would let me preview MPEG's, and I didn't want to wait a while for an AVI to download and then just have it not work.

If you try something like VirtualDub (an AVI editor), you can see unfinished AVI downloads that way :)

You can play incomplete MPG or WAV or MP3 files, but not AVI. Probably something to do with how AVIs are compressed? I don't know.

I thought iMesh and Morpheus were both shut down awhile back for legal reasons. Or did someone create new programs and reuse those names? Or am I just wrong?

Dude, if you're using KaZaA to play your music... don't. Use WinAmp. You can get skins, it comes with an equalizer, and you can edit your own PlayList. But if you use WinAmp, but just leave KaZaA opened in the background, then just close it when you're done. :p

And thanks, Jeff for that link. I really hate KaZaA but I haven't really found a good file-swapping proggie until now.
