View Full Version : is your PC good enough?

11-11-2002, 02:26 PM
take the FFXI benchmark test today and find out if your PC can handle it!

heres a list of score descriptions, it's in japanese but i imagine anything over 2000 is good. i think you need windows xp for this to work.

11-12-2002, 01:34 AM
Heheh...let's just say...no

11-13-2002, 08:38 AM

Hell yeah!

But what the hell were those wierd folk everywhere?

11-13-2002, 02:11 PM

bleh a borderline case here

11-23-2002, 03:51 AM

These are my specs as of now custom hand-built system:

Abit KG7 Mobo
AMD XP2100
1024mb ddr ram
GeForce4 4600 soon to be GeForceFX
120gig Western Digital 7200rpm
SB Audigy
Sony 21" Flat

11-23-2002, 05:08 AM
According to me & my friend experiences. You gotta have 5000 points to run 1024x768 smoothly. 3000 - 4000 points to run 800x600 smoothly.

11-23-2002, 07:37 AM
<points to his system specs and his score...

Looks as though your experiences are a bit off. That would mean technology hasnt been invented that can handle this game without framerate loss. I'm only a few off from having the fastest processer. And i'll soon have the best 3-d card. But neither of those offer that much more power.

I'm sure i'll be able to play at 1280x1024 with all the graphics turned up without any performance loss.

Unless ofcoarse this turns out to be like Asherons Call 2. Then were dealing with developers that havent learned how to code games properly yet. So even the fastest machines experience performance loss.

But this is Square were talking about. Naw it'l be fine i'm sure.

11-23-2002, 06:45 PM
We used many hardware to test the game speed under 1024x768.

The speed of 1024x768(high detail) is okay if you have a P4-2.4G, 512DDR, GeF4Ti 4200 64M.

Sadly, the game option only up to 1024x768. No 1280x1024! damn..

04-01-2003, 06:31 PM
got 3444 on my first run through with it at 4x AA then i got 3648 with AA turned of :)

gigabyte ga-7vaxp
athlon 1800 xp
768 mb pc2100
pny verto geforce 4 mx 440
sound blaster audigy
ibm 40 gig drive an 13 gig drive running at 7200 rpm

04-13-2003, 10:52 PM
I can't even start the program. It's giving me some error 2000, with something about Direct3D in the message. I know my system supports D3D, so I'm not sure what the problem is. At the end of the message, there's a (-1). Anyone else have this problem?

Sigh, guess no FFXI for me on PC.

04-14-2003, 12:36 AM
What's your system specs?

With the error you're getting, it sounds like it could be your video card or your video card drivers.

04-14-2003, 12:56 AM
Here's my specs:

OS: Windows XP
RAM: 384MB
Video: ATI Radeon Mobility M6 (LY)
Video RAM: 32MB

I can't tell you what the error is. It's telling it to me in Japanese, but my system doesn't show Windows messages in Japanese. Here's a screenshot of of the error. Hopefully someone recognizes it. (BTW, it's not a Mac, just an XP skin.)

04-15-2003, 01:56 PM
System Specs:

Amd Athlon 1700+
512 MB DDR Ram
100 Gb Western Digital 7200 RPM HD
Nvidia GeForce 4 4400
DirectX 9
SB Audigy Gamer
Windows XP

Score: 4574

04-15-2003, 02:11 PM
Ok just ran it on my laptop for the heck of it.

Dell Inspiron 8200
P4 1.8 Ghz mobile CPU
384 MB Ram
Nvidia Geforce Go 440
On Board Crystal Audio
Direct X 9.0a
Windows XP

Score: 2852

Hmm guess I can play it on the road...that could be bad news hehe :D

04-15-2003, 05:50 PM
inferno10, I got the same error box. I thought I'd try this program out on this 366 Celeron computer just to see how shitty it really is. But, it's pretty bad when the test program doesn't even work on here...

I guess I'm stuck with gettin' it on the PS2 (If they put it on the PS2 in the first place), unless I get a new computer sometime soon.

04-16-2003, 06:11 AM
Inferno10, I'd say it's your video card. Could be just bad drivers for your video card, but heck ATI has shitty drives. Try to up-date your drivers then try the benchmark. If you still get the error, then I would just buy a new graphics card. If you do up-grade go with Nvidia, their support and prices are awesome. :)

I got 7863... my computer's all right... but I think I'll buy a new one and try to get 10000+...

04-22-2003, 01:16 AM
i got this

AMD Athlon XP 2100 +
512mb Ram
Radeon 9000 64mb DDR ( Changing to GeForce FX 5200 128mb DDR next month)
40 gig WD 7200 RPM HD
30 gig Quantom Fireball 5400 RPM HD

its hand built by me too. I'm getting the GeForce FX 5200 because Square is optimizing it to run on the NVidia cards so i thought i might as well get a good one :mog:

07-11-2003, 08:27 AM
So is 4300 any gud then?

shadow heal2t
08-13-2003, 07:38 PM
haha as for square optimizing the game for nvidia cards, that's pretty much just something nvidia's paying square to say. if you look at bench mark scores radeons's work better. they named the radeon 9700 pro the official beta card for ffxi. but if you get a card that's over kill like the fx 5900 pro or the radeon 9800 pro you're set lol. but i don't know who wants to spend $500 on a graphics card.

Tom Morello
08-14-2003, 02:33 AM
My score before was a joke... I actually got 995... which is the main reason I'm getting the ps2 version XD

I don't see the point in spending X amount of dollars just to play a couple games... especially when I'm not employed ;)

08-19-2003, 11:37 PM
i got 3,333 and i have crapy computer

well i think it is crappy at least

08-19-2003, 11:43 PM

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad2: :mad2:

08-25-2003, 02:36 PM
Ok you were almost right, I got a 5000. I don't see how you can get much better than that though. My computer is at 2.5 ghz on processor, graphics card is a 128 9700 pro, and i got a whole gig of ram. I see if you were to get a 256 card, maybe even a widely supported one for the game (nvidia), and maybe even double the memory, and at most go ahead and get a multithreading 3.1 p4, but hardly anyone has got that right yet and i've still seen better scores on here. Some guy said he got like 11000. Is there some ways to change the test options like anti-aliasing and stuff.

Another question is "Is that demo running on the graphics turned all the way up?" don't get me wrong, it looks very nice, but is that what the actual game will play like with the lagg from online play, plus the other people i will be playing with, plus the grahpics turned up high. I noticed that my system did for some reason lagg a little when i got about thirteen of the characters on my screen, so whats gonna happen later on when i have to venture out with about twenty other people in order to kill a boss. I guess I am going to go try to get my drivers updated. Its such a hassle to do seeing as how i gotta dl them on AOL in other room then transfer to mine computer. Man this is a pain. I just wish that ATI was more supported. They are a step ahead of nvidia all the time so i dont see why they wouldnt be supported. another thing is if i wanted to go get a nvidia card, are there any 256 ones out that far surpass a 128 9700 pro. Something that at least doubles it in power?

Nakor TheBlue Rider
08-27-2003, 10:11 AM
I don't expect to beat that...

actually I expect I'll get 3,500-4,500

Because your comp is better than mine....

But the Sweetness....was that my old comp can't eve run the test....

Edit: OMG!!My first Score Was 5073 and my second was 5065 So my computer is gonna run it better than I thought and It ran Smoothly through the Whole thing

P.S. That was the most beatiful thing (Besides a Woman) I have ever Seen in my Life and It makes me want to play the Game Soo much More!!!

08-27-2003, 10:56 PM
you're very welcomce nakor! :D

I cant even put into words how much I appreciate your help Krystic_WLA...

My friend bought a Geforce FX 5600 but i think that this

TI 4200 of mine is at least as good.....

I beat his butt down on the FFXI BenchMark Test

I got 5050 and he got 3200 but I also got some other things in my comp better than his....

Is that FX 5600 any good?

08-30-2003, 06:14 PM
im going to get gefoce fx 5600 ultra it looks so cool but im most likely not going to get it

08-31-2003, 01:22 AM
Where are you guys getting all this money? =P I have to wait till Christmas comes, and then make sure my school grades are up high (They need to be anyways).

But yeah, I'm getting a beafed up computer, so all is good.

Pentium 4 2.8ghz
ATI Radeon Pro 128mb
19" Monitor.

I think that's most of it.

I don't even know how thats possible.....

My comp is Pritty good but....Thats like DOUBLE!!!

Crazy score......

09-02-2003, 03:30 PM
:whoa: SECRET:whoa:

My friend has hacked the first benchmark for the game. If you notice, this is like version 1.5 or something, but if you look at the other pictures with 10k+ they have the old version. I'm not sure if they put out the new version because you can hack into the old one and change the variables that determine your score or what. I know that if my processer speed is 500 mhz slower than the fastest, my graphics card is third best (right behind both the new ati and nvida 256's), and I have a gig of ram compared to someone who could have two, there isn't a possible way you could score that high.

09-03-2003, 08:05 AM
I don't see the point of hacking it though, seeing as it's not going to change the way it'll turn out in the retailed game.

09-03-2003, 04:07 PM
My soft ware is really slow so ive been updating it little by little. all i need now is geoforce 4 and nivida 9.0 ill have them by friday then i ll have the recimended system reqiurements

09-03-2003, 07:47 PM

ermmm well some people just have no life thats why they would hack that junk, mostly for braggin rights, my friend brags alot, so thats why i think that

09-06-2003, 04:06 PM
now im pissed!!! ive updated all of my soft ware i have every thing for the recemended system requirements and the benchtest still wont work!!!!
it gives me the same message about Direct 3D %&48% or some crap like that when i just spent the last half hour downloading direct x and this piece of crap computer dtill wont work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:    :grr: :grr: :grr: :mad2:  :grr: :mad2:  :grr:  :grr: :grr:

09-22-2003, 12:17 PM
I've got a
AMD athlon 1.7
geforce4200ti 64meg ddr
40gig 7200 rpm
am i ok? or will i get crappy performance?

09-22-2003, 12:19 PM
also another question hehe, where can i get this test or whatever you guys are talking about?

09-22-2003, 11:14 PM
I just took the test and I got 1826 , is that any good? It seems kind of low since I got a knew laptop only a week ago.

These are my specs:Sony Vaio
Pentium 4
2.8 GHz
512 MB
Radeon, but I don't know what series it is.

Is there any way to improve your score?:(

09-23-2003, 12:56 AM
Sorry, not much you can do about it, maybe you could upgrade the RAM, but it all depends. It isn't a wise choice t play games, expecially MMORPG's, on notebooks, they just aren't suited for it. And yes that's a low score, but I'd probably get 500 on the laptop I'm using, I can barely run N64 roms! ~_^

09-23-2003, 03:00 AM
I took the test again and my score increased to 2007. Well as long as I can play it it's fine. Besides graphics aren't important, it's the game and the story that is important. Just like Chrono Trigger showed us.:D

09-23-2003, 05:53 AM
Yes, that's true. But if you can get a good computer or have one, there's nothing wrong with endulging yourself with some great eye candy. xD

09-23-2003, 03:55 PM
Well that is true. I guess I'll have to save up some money in order to buy a better PC. In the meanwhile this is just fine.

Nakor TheBlue Rider
09-25-2003, 01:46 PM
Hey Crono9051 it could just be that the Video Card in that Laptop isnt that Great....

I know that the 2 things that have affected me and my friends scores are our Video Cards and our Motherboards.....

So check if that laptop has a good Video Card....If it does then the Motheboard for Laptops must just not be well suited for FFXI

09-30-2003, 09:46 PM
im in need of help badly i forgot my score....brb

ok i got oh no.......way lower then last night on low res i got about 1140 ok.....it was goign fine until that last scene with all the tarus then it went to ish.

heres what i haev in omy pc

pentium 4 - 1.5 ghs
256 mb RD ram
60 Gig ultra DMA harddrive
nvidia gforce2 32MB mx 200 with 32 mb sd ram
8x4x32 burner

ok thast the junk i have
i was gonan upgrade my ram to about 640 or a gig (which is what it looks like im gonan do)

and i was gonna change my vid card to a gforce4 128mb

but shoudl i change to a radeon 9800 or an fx instead (which vid cards are the best in order)

thanks, please respond soon, cause i have to purchase

my harddrive fits the requiremenst for the reccomended but do u think its all good

im also using windows me but i haev a botleg xp office edition that i mgiht be abel to stick on....so what od you think?

09-30-2003, 10:03 PM
so i turned off all of my programs and ran it again in low res and got 1258 whihc is what i got yesterday about.....high res just shut it off towards the end

10-01-2003, 03:57 PM
yes, you should definetly get a new video card, if you think that this FFXI is the only game you are going to play with for a whille, then i would go with a radeon 9700 pro 128 mb, they are lots cheaper than the 9800, and the 9800 128 scores a few FPS higher than the 9700 pro. It is going to be quite a while until you are going to need the raw power of the 9800 Pro 256, but if you wanna go the eventually cheap route, buy the 9800 pro 256 now, it'll be bout 200 dollars more than a 9700 pro, but if u buy 9700 then you will have to wait for the 9800 pro to get down to 200 dollars if you don't wanna spend more money then it would have initially took to get the 9800 256. So the best option to do is get yourself a 9800 pro 256, and jolt your ram up to a gig whenever. The 9800 pro should boost your performance quite a bit. Oh, and Crono9051, you are just the person i was looking for. Can you please tell me how to get a n64 emulator, and games. Do you know of a PS2 emulator that works, i dun care bout games for that, i'll go rent them.

10-01-2003, 04:12 PM

doe sosmeoenw ant to help me put an image under my name???.........

10-01-2003, 04:36 PM
thanks for the help dude....but how much better is the 9800.. wpretty much with the 9700 will i be abel to play in high res, with environmental effects on, or will the 9800 make it deff that ill ahev very slight slow down if any?

10-02-2003, 07:32 AM
I'm playing the Beta right now and I've had no problems as far as lag or performance loss.. Here's my comp spec [custom built]

Pentium4 2.53 GHz
1 GB DDR 2700 [with heatsink]
GeForce4 Ti 4200 128MB
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
80 GB Western Digital 7200 prm
Aluminum casing
17' Flat Screen MAG monitor
2.1 Altec Lansing w/ subwoofer

I'm guessing what you mean is under you posts and not under your name since you allready have one there.

Vist this url and it should tell just how to do it...

10-02-2003, 04:41 PM
Hey FiragO I don't know where to get emulators so I asked around."But I do know that Project64 and Nemu64 are the best emulators for N64 on the net, and they're real easy to find, just search in google.com." from Mojo Pin. He also say's that as for the roms you should search in programs like Kazaa Lite. Hopefully this will help you. Oh and thanks Mojo.

10-03-2003, 06:02 PM
thx very much crono, i will be looking out for those. I wish i could find a decent ps2 emulator though. That would be awesome. Loui, you should probably update your video card. It may be a 128 mb card, but that just mostly deals with colors and certain other aspects of the game. When your looking at the amount of memory a card comes with it just means that the higher it is then the more crisp and nice looking the game will look. So a 256 would look very nice and the higher you get with memory, the less work the rest of your system has to do towards graphics. Yes, the 9700 pro would be able to play games just as well as the 9800 pro, but eventually you will need a new card anyways, so might as well get the best so you can enjoy new games right away and as soon as they hit market.

10-03-2003, 08:16 PM
yea...actually i did mean under my name but then i found out how to do it and auytomatically it added the picture on all of my past posts as well as my new ones........oh welp thanks

10-16-2003, 03:51 AM
Does anyone know what's the minimum score needed to play FFXI on high resolution?

10-16-2003, 09:51 AM
Hey, Mojo Pin here. I think the minimun score needed to play on high res would be around 6000. I'm just guessing though, luckily for me I'm getting the Radeon 9800 XT, which is comming out next month; it's an upgrade from the 9800 256mb Pro.

10-16-2003, 04:09 PM
Are you sure it's 6000 and not 600? 1000 is the requirement for low res and my highest score for high resolution was 903.

10-17-2003, 07:09 AM
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your wrong dude look ont he web site to egt the information.

10-17-2003, 09:08 AM
Yeah, as I said I wasn't sure. I think on low res it's 2000, but if you want high res to play smoothly then you'll need a higher score.

10-17-2003, 02:35 PM
Am i mistaken or no? I read a reply some where up there says he got a score of 10,000+ on his machine...

I only got a 2600 (HIGH-RES) on mine with the spec of:

P4 2.8ghz
80g IBM HD 7200
Asus GeForce4 Ti4800 SE (better than FX5600 by X times)
Asus MB P4S8X-X

now, back to that 10,000+ score.. BS?!

10-17-2003, 03:48 PM
I think FiragO is the one one who said that people who got scores like 10,000 hacked into the computer. Oh and kireiBlood the website only shows scores for low resolution.

10-20-2003, 07:25 PM
on my pc who got a score of like 1200 on low i got like 700 something on high....and it wasnt nearly playable...i doubt an extra 200 woudl do that much fo a difference, esepecially when peoplee are sayign they got in thousands in high res

10-21-2003, 12:28 AM
I have a Dell that i picked out the parts for and i got 5500.

Pentium 4 2.40GHZ
512 Mb ram
Radeon 9700 Pro
120 gig hd

is 3000 low good and 2400 high?

Nakor TheBlue Rider

its above average...

You can play....without any problems.

My scores were only a little higher than that.

10-21-2003, 12:25 PM
If I can't play with a Nvidia GeForceFX 5600, then by god, nobody can... unless they have a better card. >.>

Hm, I get an error upon running the file.

Err Code = 2000

Direct3D(jibberish ....)(-1)

So, uh, any recommendations?

10-21-2003, 12:46 PM
I got that till I bought new Video card

10-21-2003, 10:40 PM
According to the US Playonline/FFXI site, anything under 1200 means your computer can't handle it. Or was it 1300?

Anyways, if you're over 1400, you'll be able to run the game.

I scored a 1478 I think.

Hm, well, the error still continues, and it happens on all three of the computers available to me.

The video card I use isn't that old, less than a year old. It's not the most up to date, but it isn't terrible, either. It's a 64MB Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller.

I believe that should be fine to run it, no?

It also seems that my card cannot support T&L, much like that used in Star Wars Galaxies. I'm to understand that this gives an error with Direct 3D.

However, my card is compatible with Direct X, and so, can someone tell me if the Graphics Card is in control of T&L, or is it the Processor, in FFXI?

Also, if someone could tell me, if the Bench will not run on my computer, does that, for a fact, mean FFXI won't?

10-23-2003, 02:09 AM
but is the minimun going to be any fun to play under....itll look gay prob and slow down prob

1024 x 768 resolution, I got 2086. I'm too lazy right now to run it through again, but I had Winamp, IRC, AIM, Y!M and EoFF all running in the background. Oh, and my LJ client and my TV Program. I'll check it out with all that stuff turned off (or at least most of it, seeing as I'll probably have some on during the game anyway) later on.

My system? Uh... *checks*

XP Home
AMD Athlon 1800 (1.53GHz)
GeForce2 with 32MB
Broadband Cable (Telewest, for any UK'ers in the know)

Considering upgrading the RAM / Video card sometime, but I just had a hit to my finances so we'll see how I go.

10-26-2003, 11:41 PM
I also got the error message what does it mean?

10-27-2003, 01:05 AM
I got a 3826 on low-res and a 2621 on Hi-res with the new driver for the Geforce Go5600 card.

Unfortunately, it means you're, more likely than not, not going to be able to run the game.

Maybe you should invest in a new Graphics card. I'd suggest Best Buy, or a local shop, for such things.

Good luck.

Ah, and I hit about an average of 1900 with:

Celeron 2.0Ghz
30 Gigabytes Free
PNY Geforce FX 5200 128 DDR MB RAM PCI

Kinda strange how some o' you with equal/lower specs are getting a higher score than I am. >>;

10-27-2003, 08:44 PM
Well my pc ranks with High resolution a 1770 and my high is a 2635. I was wondering if their was a way on how to raise my score?

also I have a card called Ge FORCE FX 5600 AGP 256 MB DDR

Is it the card or the Computer? (Pavilion 540n)

11-06-2003, 12:59 PM
just to say my PC is no where near able 2 play ff11, but im getting a new PC 4 christmas and it is really good, i found it on www.novatech.co.uk(i think only 2 be used by uk people).

The PC im getting is the bravo pro 2600+(amazing), check it c what u think, even people from America and other counties in Europe have a look.

11-07-2003, 02:32 AM
I checked it another way it didn;t tell me numbers but yeah the only thing that I don'thave from the reccomended system is windows XP I have ME other then that everything is fine :)

11-07-2003, 06:02 AM
Dude, get XP. It's really not hard to get for free. :P But yeah... we're not here to discuss such illegal matters. ;)

Hopefully my marks have risen and my exam marks will be a decent hight too, so I can get my new computer which will consist of a P4 3.2GHZ 1GB DDR RAM and a Radeon 9800 XT!

nice comp, whos make is that with?

i know dell had a bad rep from what ive heard but at the moment there not look that bad actually.

doing special offers now on www.dell.co.uk if ne 1 wants to look.

11-07-2003, 11:04 AM
Final Fantasy Xl System Requirements just for the people who don't know:

Wind 98/2000/Me/XP home or pro
800MHz Processor
32MB V/Card (NVida)
6GB HDD Space
Modem 56k greater

11-07-2003, 09:44 PM
if your gonna build up a Pentium 4 machine of that stature just get RD Ram. But if you were really serious about gaming you'd get an AMD Athlon 64 and a gig of 400mhz DDR :) .

I'm actually going to build it through IBM. My dad did this HUGE company deal with IBM, so he's going to get a custom built computer with a huge discount off for me. I think I built one on Dell, just to see how much it'd be and it's around 4000 AUD where I can get it for 2000 AUD. xD

11-08-2003, 12:58 AM
Its considerlaby cheaper to build from scratch. Its really not that hard as long as you can count pins :D lol. As long as you know what your doing a home built machine can be fairly lethal. But since its from scratch you have some more risks you can't just call Dell and be like "hey my PC blew up fix it". Recently the board i had shorted out and i dunno why but it drew too much current through the power supply on the red leads. The new board bought had a bad bios on it and i sent it back and i'm still waiting on the replacement. It kinda pisses me off cause FFXI is sitting in my desk and i can't play it. I'd use this computer but its my dad and i dunno if a Radeon 7000 will even work with the game anyway. Hes already pissed that i'm using his.

11-09-2003, 07:18 AM
That Radeon would defenatly work with FFXI. As long as it's above 64mb one, which I'm positive it would be.

And that's what I meant about building a computer from scratch; unless you know what you're doing you can screw it up real bad. xD

11-09-2003, 06:42 PM
Its a 64mb card. Windows has driver issues with it for some reason every time i try and use a ATI driver i get from their site it always screws up so it has to use the default Windows drivers so that could cause a problem and i just don't want to have to put up with the " I told you so" from the old man of the house. The new board i bought should be coming in fairly soon like tue, wed, or thursday at the latest so i should be playing by Friday night. I'm really afraid of the patch download, i got 56K :( so this is gonna suck.....

11-25-2003, 12:40 AM
I built my comp over the summer, unfortunately, the vid card is the bottleneck. :/

OS: Windows XP Professional SP1
CPU: Intel P4 2.66 Ghz, sometimes overclocked to 3.0ghz. :D
Video: Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500 128 Mb softmodded to Radeon 9700 (8 pipelines! w00t!)
Sound: Integrated into MSI 875P NEO-LSR mobo Memory: 1024 Mb Crucial DDR
Other: 17" NEC MultiSync LCD, Logitech Cordless MX Duo, 120 Gb Seagate 7200RPM

11-26-2003, 01:08 AM
right now i'm running a
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512mb 266mhz DDR
GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 128mb DDR
40 gig 7200 RPM western digital master HD
80 gig 7200 RPM Maxtor slave HD
Realtek Avance AC97 audio

soon i'm upgrading the processor to a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 333fsb 512K L2 cache. I doubt if i'll upgrade it anymore. I'm gonna build up one of those Athlon 64 machines the summer before i got college so i got 2 years to get the money for it.

12-02-2003, 04:12 AM

I have Windows 98SE, will this bench work with it? I keep getting that Direct 3D error and I was wondering if I can update my drivers for an Intel 810e Chipset (I think that is what it is called; it's the name of the driver anyway) and have it work? Does anyone have the same graphics card as I do and got the bench to work?

12-02-2003, 10:07 PM
Dude the game isn't gonna work with an Intel 810E those things are horrible i had one on a Hewlett Packard. the 810E in my HP had like 12mbs of video on it. that GPU is bad. If you have a AGP slot go buy a decent GeForce or Radeon vide card cause an i810E won't work.

12-05-2003, 05:44 AM
Alright, I got 1590, will I be able to run FFXI with 640x800 smoothly?? ( If theres that option )
This is my system ( I'm 13 so I don't have money to spend on upgrading. Funny thing is, I've upgraded my computer with my OWN MONEY:D )

Windows ME:(
GeForce 4 AGP 8X MX 440 ( Power by Gainword )
With 64 video MB
256 SDRam
850 MHz ADM Duron
Altec Lansing Speakers

Thats about all I know about my computer.
One question...
How do you set the Bench to "Lower Resolutions"
Cause' you guys were talking about getting a score on high res, and on low res...

12-06-2003, 03:03 AM
Ohh yah! Also my computer is a Compaq Presario 5000.
I don't know if that will be of any importance...
Again my computer stuff is:

GeForce4 MX 440
256 SD-RAM
850 MHz ADM Duron Processor
56k Modem :riiight:
( I dunno what this is but )
10/100 Mb PCI NIC
SAMTRON 17'inch Monitor
ALTEC Lansing Speakers
YAMAHA PCI Audio YMF724 Sound card

So do you think I might be-able to run it, my score was 1590, and please tell me how to put it in Hi-Res and Low-res... Cause' when I got my score if it was in Hi or Low resolutions.

12-06-2003, 04:05 PM
the 10/100mb PCI NIC is a network card so you can use high speed internet like DSL, and Cable. You might be able to run the game you have enough memory and the video card will work. for the low res and high res stuff i don't know much about cause i run a GeForce FX5200 Ultra and it works great with it. so i have my graphics maxed out and it doesn't slow down with lag or anything. now your processor is well fast enough according to the box. if you wanna spend a tiny bit of cash you could get AMD Duron at 1.0 ghz or something and that would help the game run better or an extra stick of 256mb SD Ram PC133 would also help. I never did do the score thing cause i didn't have to. It might work but what you should probably do is after you install the game under Start -> programs -> PlayOnline -> Final Fantasy XI config is a bunch of graphical options, you might want to set them all to low. and the 56K is gonna suck at downloading the patch. It took me 2 nights of leaving my PC on. but it MIGHT work.

12-06-2003, 04:17 PM
I'm running the game fine with a score of 2996.

12-07-2003, 02:56 PM
Actually the AMD Duron is a socket A processor just like the Athlon and Athlon XP models. So, you could get like a 1.2 ghz Athlon or Athlon XP and that would be better than a Duron cause you'd have more FSB.

12-09-2003, 08:12 AM
It doesnt work for me. I click on it, it loads for a second and nothing happens.

12-09-2003, 03:08 PM
What are the system requirements.( i know they proably been posted a million times ,but im new.

I wasnt able to get the benchtest to work.

My specs
192 mb of ram
pentium three processor
windows 98 soon to be xp
nvidia riva tnt pro soon to be a raedon 9600 pro

12-09-2003, 06:26 PM
32 meg card baby and it runs like a dream!

12-09-2003, 09:45 PM
its probably the NVidia Riva video card. I don't know for sure but the box says and i quote from the all mighty bottom of the box on this "NVidia GeForce series graphics processing unit with 32 MB or ATI Radeon 9000 graphics card (AGP)". that could be it right there. a Radeon 9600 will work perfectly.
Though I think you should get a Radeon 9600 XT :) . I'd get that i mean it was on the Tech TV top 20 gifts.

St. Anger
12-10-2003, 10:36 PM

I can't play it. I bough it and I signed up to step four, I asked my Mom if she could do the credit card thing, and she said NO.
Because it's billing!!!!
Sigh, and now I can't returne it so
I got $100 from my grandma early cause' she goes to my aunts for christmas and she wont be here to give me my gift to she gave it to me early and I just wasted $85!!!! (Remeber I'm Only 13)

*Sigh* It's taunting me cause' it's sitting on my dest, collecting dust AND ITS FF XI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                   :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(    :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:   :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

12-16-2003, 09:40 PM
Thats jacked. If you bought the game then you should be able to play it. explain to your mom that you bought it and you should get to play it. You get a free month so she should let you have that atleast. You do have to give them credit card information. Another thing is when i sighned up for my FFXI content ID they told me it was only going to be like $4.35, which is strange cause it should be 12.95. If you're going to pay to play with your own cash she should let you play. And its not fair that you bought a game you can't use. You should have told your mom that it required a credit card ahead of time, so she could decide if she would "let" you play or not.

12-17-2003, 01:58 AM
Yeah you probably should have told your mum in the first place that it required a credit card, if you're still having troubels just explain to her that you get a free month and then tell her that you will pay for the next month or something. It'll be alright.

12-18-2003, 04:00 PM
i scored 4143 on my laptop

Dell Inspiron 8500
2.4 GHz P-4M
64mb GeForce4 go 4200
40 gig HDD
512 mb RAM

does anyone know if thats good enough to play this game? because i dont wanna buy it if its not gonna run good

12-18-2003, 04:20 PM
oh and one more thing...how do you check your score on high res and low res?? is it the resolution you have your screen set to? cuz my laptop is set at 1680 x 1050 and i ran the test and got a 4143.

...i dont understand this stuff =\

12-18-2003, 05:29 PM
should be fine, i scored around 4000 and it plays fine for me :)

12-19-2003, 01:00 AM
that'll play the game no problems that kick ass laptop. i'm gonna download the scoring thingy when i get my new board and Athlon XP 2500+ 333fsb installed sometime this weekend to see what score i would get.

01-12-2004, 04:12 PM
i saw that list of graphics chips and %s somewhere, cant find the url now. My 64mb geforce 4 mx 440 came up as 49%
does that mean 49% chance of working?

i also have a athlon 1.4 and 512mb ram

someone ought to make a list from the replies here showing cpu, ram, gpu and the score. that way it should be easier to see the level our computers are theorectically at.

its a inno3d tornado
i got that japanese benchmark prog and got a score of 2850 on the first run, that was after a reboot, with most of normal system tray gubbins closed. Thats seems pretty good. however

i downloaded the 50mb benchmark and got 1156 before a reboot (5 days uptime) and an appalling 6?? after a reboot.

is the 50mb prog using a different scale or something?????

Marvin the machine
01-13-2004, 06:30 PM
I don`t understand this, my specs are:
Athlon 2600xp
512DDR ram
Geforce 5600 256mb
160 7200 rpm hd

And i only get 2667 on hi res and 3750 on hi res.

Isn`t that a bit low, and with 2667 will i be able to play in hi res?

01-13-2004, 08:56 PM
is that on the 50mb one or the smaller japanese one.

i managed to find a link to the 50mb scale:

it's not looking too hot for my card

01-13-2004, 10:54 PM
You will be able to play fine on Hi-res. I got a lower score than that on my laptop and I play fine on Hi-res without any problems. It looks beautiful...

01-16-2004, 05:45 PM
i'm gonna upgrade my creaking mx 440 probably to a 9600xt. :-)

01-16-2004, 10:18 PM
I have a GeForce MX 440 and I can run everything fine with it, but I'm currently getting a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro so can't wait for that. xD

Thunday Man
01-17-2004, 11:35 PM
my comp runs it fine, on the highest resolution

i use 1.333gig processor, 512ddr ram and a gforce4 ti4680
