No, just merging with ENIX so they can have ability to have more options in creating RPGs. Squaresoft is too successful at making great games to go, don't worry about it.:)

Actually. I think it was only SquareUSA(Which was SquareEA a short while ago) merged with ENIX.

Actually it's all of Square that merged (hence the reason a bunch of Japanese guys are all in one building together and not a bunch of umm whatever you would call the combination of us here)

Were just lucky Sony baled them out after the movie. Or they wouldn't be around anymore.

actually I heard that they arent making any more final fantasys, atleast for ps2, thats gonna suck cuz nintendos final fantasies have been childish, but ff6 was okay. Also, I think crystal chronicals looks like ff9 all over again, and I hated the plot in that one.

Ummm FFXII will be a PS2 release, although by the time XIII's ready PS3 might be out.

Ouch!

FFs better stay with Sony. *shakes fist*

True: its the whole of Square, not just the USA unit.

Its very unlikely that SquareEnix will stop making FF's for Sony - like the majority of developers now, SE will try and produce for all major consoles [GB+GC+PS+XB]

Its a mistake imo to make seperate games for seperate consoles though, they would do better to have the whole team working on ONE FF at a time and then 'porting it to other consoles instead of diluting the quality by working on 3+ new projects at once...

Meh, I'ld like to see Sony buy much mroe stock in Square-Enix and tell them no more FF's for any system other then play station. And watch as their list of exclusive console only games increases.

With Square Enix being giant-sized, they can afford to work on about three games at a time, at least. As for the Final fantasy games, Square have always only released three games per console; 1, 2 and 3 on the NES/Famicom; 4, 5 and 6 on the SNES/Super Famicom; 7, 8 and 9 on the PSX, and 10, 11 and 12 on the PS2, so when FF13 rolls around, I dare say it'll either be on the PS3 or whatever nextgen console they pick/get a contract with.

Oh, and wrong forum =P

A topic asking a question about the company Squaresoft in the General Squaresoft section?

Sounds alright to me ^^

Actually Spatvark, I always just thought 3 games per console was just a coincidince. I mean by the time they started FFIV SNES was coming out so they made it for that. I just always figured it was because then ext best system was out then so they worked using that instead.

FFX-2 makes you wrong, Spat. :p
Tactics too, and FF Chronicles/Origins/Anthology. xD
Not to mention that Europe didn't get anything until FF7 (nothing on SNES for sure, same for NES I think).
