Well, I was just looking through a CD ROM I had (free with a news paper), and ever since I stopped the CD, my monitor has been humming alot louder then usual, and the screen sorta seems like it's flicking... only not. I can't describe it, but I'm pretty sure it's hurting my eyes. It's never done this before, so I'm wondering if anyone knows what could have happened?
It's a 17" Packard Bell screen if it matters.

The only thing I can think of is that your refresh rate has been set too low.

Right click on your Desktop and go down to Properties, then go to the Settings tab and click it. Once there click on Advanced and from there click on the Monitor tab and set the refresh rate all the way up.

The bit about the humming, I have no clue. I doubt it has anything to do with the CD, probably just coincidence.

I just checked for the refresh rate, and no luck, I can't find such an option o_o. And it's definitly different because it's giving me a headache now >=|
I'll keep looking for a refresh rape option though :)

You want to look on the Adaptar tab instead of Monitor tab if you're using WIn98 instead of WinXP :p Change it to the highest Hz it'll allow you to. If you can't, check the correct drivers are being used for both the monitor and graphics card - some dodgy program on that CD might have changed it.

As for the humming, I'm not sure, could be the monitor starting to fail or getting old or something. In fact, mine has had this (used to be annoying, not any more :p ) high pitched whistling noise every now and then, usually when showing large solid blocks of colour a few months after I got it. :p

OMG Guu that did it :D and once I changed it, it made a higher pitch hum sound! The thing is I never really listened to the hum before so I dunno if it's better or worse, but I guess it could be how it was before :) thanks alot!

*throws LoTR2 disk out with the rubbish* :D

Ah yes of course, haven't used Win98 in a while, should have asked what OS you were using. Glad you got it solved.:)
