Microphone help

Well I am having trouble getting my mic to work right. For some reason it won't record a thing when ever I try so I can't really say what the problem might be. Well thanks in advance.

Try these:[list=1]
Check your microphone to make sure it is plugged into the right spot. (line/mic in)
Check the volume control in windows and make sure that the mic volume is up and not muted.
Check to make sure that you have the correct recording device selected. In Windows XP, got to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices. In 98 or Me, go to Control Panel -> Multimedia.

Thanks I got it working finally. Well off to go do pointless stuff with it now. Yay.:D
