With BooB being gone, should that mean the Ciddies are gone too? It's about time for another round of them to start up, and I haven't heard of anyone ready to step up and take over.

And how do we feel about this, ladies and gentlemans?

But the Ciddies are just classic. You gotta have them. It's like christmas, your crazy if you don't celebrate it.

Well I don't mind counting votes and putting them in a table. I've got a lot of time during spring break.

eestlinc

I'd be willing to run them, especially since I won't win anything anyway.

edit: I'd even be able to do it without creating a new account, since I could just use repo man to do the tabulating. Just think, Ciddies brought to you by repo man. yes.

Oh well I thought only a staff person could volunteer *is stupid*

Ok well I guess I'm third in line for this then, I got no life and am on every day, so ya I could go for it if eestlinc or ZeZipster somehow can't.

repo man, doing the Ciddies? Hmm.... It's a good idea. *approves*

I wouldn't mind presenting an award for a certain category. . . if the Ciddies involve that kind of thing.

eestlinc
03-13-2003, 03:19 AM
nah, the ciddies just consist of nominations for various categories (best newbie, most liekly to be cid's knight, etc) followed by voting for the finalists. If you win you can put a nifty Ciddie image in your sig, along with all the obvious prestige.

I thought we do this in June.

Agent Proto

Yeah, isn't it in every 6 months this time instead of 3+?

Good call, Pr00t. I say hold off 'til at least May.

Dr Unne
03-13-2003, 05:13 AM
I say hold off as long as possible. We do them way too often.

June sounds good. I approve.

eestlinc

they shouldn't happen during the election anyway. I did think they were supposed to be done in April/October or something. o well. repo man should still do them whenever they occur.

Heh; We had the Ciddies (albeit by another name) before we had BoB. They won't go away that easily.

Yeah, let's keep doing 'em, but not so frequently. They lose their "specialness" if we do them too often, y'know?

Strider

Well, whenever it comes around again, I'd like to see if I could do my part and join the madness.

Twice a year isn't so often. :p

But they were done in November last time, so they should hit the end of May this time. I'm also supposed to hold the Mister/Miss EoFF thing in the next couple of months, but the Ciddies and Screen Name Tourny and Mister/Miss EoFF always seem to be one right after the other so I think I'll wait until an opportune time.

Agent Proto
03-14-2003, 01:42 AM
I suppose the Miss/Mr. EoFF always happens once a year. :P

I'll try to get the Screen Name Tourney to start within the next month. :p

Excellent. 'April Madness'.

Ciddies and repo man. That's good. :)

I think that whenever the Ciddies are held, it should be a time when most members are around and not on holidays. But then I guess that goes for any tournament.

I agree.

How about Ciddies every spring and Mister/Miss EoFF every fall or some such arrangement?

eestlinc
03-14-2003, 06:34 AM
sounds like a good idea to me. spring is the best time to have the ciddies since we get the most new members in the summer. Its liek the EoFF season starts in June and thus the ciddies are best to cap off the year in april or may.

I like the current twice a year setting for the Ciddies, because only 2 people win Mr/Mrs EoFF, but a whole bunch win the Ciddies. Not to be overly whiney, but the Ciddies are a lot more fun.

Shlup

We could drop Mister/Miss EoFF completely and I'll take over the Ciddies if that's preferrable.

Agent Proto

I like that idea, dropping Mister/Miss EoFF. I was really never a big fan of it to be honest.

Del Murder
03-15-2003, 06:23 AM
I like it. It allows some of the not as popular members to be heard. Ciddies are too popularity-based. I say keep it, but maybe only once a year. And Shlup, you do a very good job with it.

m4tt

Keep Mister/Miss EoFF, that's way more fun then the Ciddies. :p

eestlinc
03-15-2003, 06:44 AM
yea, what's up with all this playa-hating on the alternative beauty pageant?

On a side note, if we were to have another Battle of the Bands, I promise to make something unrelated to Bruckner.

Yamaneko

Yeah, I agree. Large events like the Ciddies should be held once a year. Kinda like the Academy Awards.

Citizen Bleys

Except more prestigious, of course.

Dude.

They aren't actually due until freaking JUNE, people. There were June & November Ciddies, with November Ciddies being done so that the two weeks they last for goes into December, just in time to have the results released before the Anniversary.

Let's see how things are in June. I actually had a new plan, but we'll see if anyone wants them. The main reason I had them more often than once a year is because it's for not only the oldbies but the newbies. It gives people who are Newbies/Regulars more of a chance to win things - for example, if we had them one year from now, and This Guy was an incredible member, he'd be a veteran by then and it's a much tougher award to get anywhere in.

But hey, like I said - wait until June. And make it not just for the people who have been here since day one, but also the people who have joined in the past six months. People here think way too much of the oldbies rather than the newbies, and the newbies are the ones who are experiencing more magic here than any other member ever will, imho. I think a lot of people can agree that being a newbie in EoFF is a very special thing. Sure, it's still great now, but we should be able to celebrate the newbies.

...actually, why not have a 'Newbie of the Month' or something? That would be great. Ha.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Mr. and Ms. EoFF = So freaking great, and so freaking different from the Ciddies. Don't even think about dropping them.

Shlup

Oh yeah... April isn't 6 months from November. I hate math so fsking much.

Del Murder
03-16-2003, 05:41 PM
That's 'Newbie of the Month' material right there.

eestlinc
03-16-2003, 06:09 PM
the problem with a newbie of the month is that we actually have to give it out once a month. to a newbie.

Dr Unne
03-16-2003, 09:17 PM
Newbie of the Month sounds like a good idea, if people were really willing to keep up with it. We'll never run out of new newbies to give it to too. You could even give them a special colored newbie rank of some sort for the month they possess the award. Or not, it's easy for me to say how easy it is, since I'm not the one who'd have to run it.

Strider
03-16-2003, 10:14 PM
Freakin' A. I'm three or four months too early, so I probably won't qualify for that award. . . *snaps fingers

But, if you want to set that up, Unne, I'd be willing to help however I can.

Dr Unne
03-16-2003, 10:18 PM
No, I don't want to set anything up. Staff'd probably have to do it. If they'd even want to. Not up to me.

Del Murder
03-17-2003, 12:10 AM
So it's settled. Unne will run Newbie of the Month. Who's up first, doc?

Raistlin
03-17-2003, 12:11 AM
Ciddies = r0x0rz.

Mr/Ms EoFF is still cool, though.

I don't think anyone would keep track of all the newbies, so "Newbie of the Month" would probably be distributed somewhat arbitrarily to just the first person picked less than a month old. Meh

Strider
03-17-2003, 02:00 AM
I'd organize it, just because I'm crazy like that.

EDIT: Though, I would need a little bit of help. . .

eestlinc
03-18-2003, 12:16 AM
I always thought the reward for being a cool newbie was getting a custom rank early or something. Either that or spawning an entire thread to determine which veteran is posing as the newbie.
