You know the little icons you can specify to be displayed in bookmarks / URL bars? Like I have the little Unne at my site and cnn.com has the little CNN and whatnot. I like those. Maybe EoFF could use one. The code to add it is <link rel="shortcut icon" href="whatever.ico" type="image/ico">, it goes somewhere in the the <head> </head> section. I think they're nice. Or if you don't want to use one feel free to ignore me / ridicule me / close this thread / ban me and delete my account forever.

Good idea. Anyone up for making an image? And if so, what should it be? Not sure if we can get a blue chocobo to fit in that small a space and still be clear...

Maybe the icon can be a smiley, or a shiny object easy to the eye, If I'm correct. Or maybe Final Fantasy Related, who knows.

Would it work with the forums, too? Or just the main site?

It could work with the forums too. They probably let you specify the <head> tag in the admin CP somewhere. I don't remember.

I don't know what to use. Chocobo might be nice. Maybe even just its head if the whole thing isn't clear enough. The icons have to be pretty small. If you find a picture and no one here can change it to a .ico file I can do that.

What actual size are those things? 16x16?

Dr Unne

I don't know. I think they resize automatically anyways.

This is the chocobo head in 16x16. It's very small (surprisingly ;) ).

You'll have to change it to an .ico file if you use it, though.

Unne, are you able to convert that to an .ico for us?

If anyone else knows what they're doing, that'd be great. I like the pic, Burt.

Actually, that's pretty damn sweet. Nice one "Face."

Sorry, I was without my computer for a couple weeks and then I forgot. Let me know if this file is corrupt or anything. Darn MB won't let me attach .ico's.

Works fine

Unne, given that the icon is called choco.ico and is loaded up into the main site, how would I type out the HTML? It doesn't seem to be working...

< link rel="shortcut icon" href="choco.ico" type="image/ico" >
< link rel="shortcut icon" href="choco.ico" type="ico" >

both don't work. Fill me in on what else I need to change?

EDIT: Can some people please go to http://www.eyesonff.com/index.shtml and tell me if they get it to work?

EDIT, AGAIN: Never mind, it's not showing up for LJ for me either. Must be something wrong with my settings.

As I said in chat, it came up in my favourites when I added the page.

Internet Explorer doesn't show icons in the address bar (so far as I know), but it does in the Bookmarks. It shows up fine in Phoenix though, I just looked. So it works.

I use IE and it showed in my address bar after I clicked the shortcut with the chocobo icon...

Who knows. Looks like it works fine, even if BoB can't see it though. I can still see it.

Anyone gonna add it to the MB too? *double post*

Does an admin have to do that via templates? I'll move this over to feedback for the forums issue.

Yeah, it's an admin thing. I think it goes in the headinclude template.
