Is that an "External Reference" (Refrence to something in the REAL world) Macereana is a dance is it not?

Yeah, it refers to the Macarena dance. *shudder* I guess Tidus just couldn't pronounce Macalania the first time around, and the writers decided to add a bit of humor while they were at it.
