If you're using Internet Explorer, go to "Tools" and then "Internet Options..." and then click the tab that says "Advanced"

On the list under "Browsing" there should be options to have Java enabled or not. Be sure it's enabled.

I havent been able to chat forever...whenever I go in or try to it says " unable to connect to server...connection closed" and thats the end of it. Help?

Blame yourself for using AOL, gives too many problems from itself being crap to people liking to ban it every now and then on the server itself because it's AOL :D

I thought MS didn't even offer a Java VM for download any more. Or is that just for XP.

I think they don't bundle their own in WinXP SP1a, you have to download the one you want instead, that's the only difference between that and SP1.
