View Full Version : The underlined names

It annoys the crap out of me. Get rid of it. Why is it important to know site staffs are online anyway?

Yamaneko
06-22-2003, 04:29 AM
If you have questions about the main site. Ok, it's not important.

Underlined names stand out more than bold names. That's the only thing I don't like. Makes site staff seem more important than the mods.

Del Murder
06-22-2003, 06:56 AM
The problem is that when you highlight a link the standard is to underline it. That's why I don't like anything underlined. It looks stupid.

We should use strikethrough for the site staff instead :p Hey, they both start with the same letter :p

I know, I just noticed that on Spat's. wtf? :aimmad:

That doesn't look as bad as just underlined, though. >_>

It doesn't bother me too much, but what you can do is make admins, knights, site staff, and senior site staff appear in the online list with the same formatted text of their ranks that appear in their posts.

I have a question about Site staff, how does one become a Site staff and what are the nifty benifits of it?

Loony BoB
06-23-2003, 01:32 PM
Basically you have to submit a few things towards the site that the Senior Site Staff find to be worthwhile. Consistently posting in Site Staff is also a very nice thing. If Roogle, Spatty and I think that you've been a consistent and worthwhile contributor to the main site of EoFF, then we'll ask an admin to give you the rank.

There are no benefits.

I don't know why being site staff is important enough that we need to see when they're online. They don't have anything to do with the MB. Bold+underlined stands out way too much too. I'd think Spatvark was an admin if I just joined, the way his name stands out so much.

Loony BoB
06-23-2003, 05:28 PM
Yeah, I must admit, they stand out like a light bulb. It's not that aesthetically pleasing.

Leeza
06-23-2003, 05:54 PM
Yes I have to agree, and they do make you look <i>super duper</i> important, <u><b>Looney BoB</b></u>. More so even than italicized <i><b>Bleys</b></i> or <b><i>Sean</b></i> or <i><b>ShlupQuack</b></i>. :)

There is no Looney BoB ;_;

Leeza
06-23-2003, 06:57 PM

There are no benefits.

Getting your name underlined on the "Who's Online" list is our only benefit. Plus this spiffy orange rank. And, I'm willing to work for just an underlined name and a spiffy rank.

Because I thought that since site staff were the only ones who didn't get some distinction on the Who's Online list, they would be sad, and it was easy to fix.

What about Senior Site Staff liek me, BoB and Roogle? Admittedly, we're all Knights as well so we're bolded as well, but over-lined as well would look funky XD

What about RMs? I don't see them getting any sort of recognition on the Who's Online list.

I don't think that the whole seven people who still go to the main site regularly are going to need to see when a site staffer is viewing the forums, but whatever, it doesn't really bother me.

why dont we give every member some sort of position rank so nobody feels left out. I suggest the pink title.

A poll in General Chat: 50 votes.
A poll on the main site: 1,534 votes.

I didn't realise this place had forums untill about 2-3 weeks of me first finding the site.....mainly cos i had no idea what forums were. How about instead of our member names showing on the who's online list someone like linus or Bleys makes up strange and annoying names for us all? Yes, i do enjoy sacrificing myself to the wrath of my own suggestions...why?

It's a bunch of crap in the online.php and index.php file; to specifically find it, you'd do well to search for whatever the site staff usergroup id is and whatever the senior site staff usergroup id is.

I'd suggest actually just making the site staffers italic, not bold, and not underlined. Or something. And then for the supermods who are also site staffers... just keep 'em bold. The underline really does look ugly.

Oh, and what's with the RMs no longer being listed on the Forum Leaders list? I liked looking through the list when I got excessively bored, and now I can't. ;_;
