View Full Version : Incredibly Annoying AOL Instant Messanger Problem

Ever since yesterday, my AIM started having a couple minor problems that annoy me to no end.

First and most importantly, I use 10 point Verdana font for my AIM font-- after I italicize a word, it seems to revert into 8 point Times New Roman for the rest of the message until I start a new message.

Second of all, though not as much of a problem at all, really: Whenever someone uses a background colour other than black and is the first to initiate a conversation with me, their background won't start off with their desired colour, it'll appear as black, then it'll go to what it's suppoed to.

If anyone knows how to fix either of these problems, I'll probably have a statue built after you.

Since I dont use AIM, it will probably not work, but try getting a new version/reinsalling the current one.

However, delete the folder it is installed into or it might not work.

I tried reinstalling before, and it didn't help. Hell, I even had a format and I'm getting it again. It leaves me pondering as to what it could be that's causing it.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gaim/

Those are the patches. :p

Seriously though, I have no clue. The new version of AIM doesn't work on my machine anyways, which is why I use the former of the two links. ;)

I think I'll try out Gaim. I enjoyed Trillian before some of the newer versions came out, the newer versions tend to run slower on my computer.

http://gaim.sourceforge.net is a somewhat better homepage for Gaim. Sourceforge project pages are kind of screwy.

GAIM is better than AIM :p But then, maybe I'm biased because I know one of the people who's actually helping develop it :p

Yeah, I'm enjoying it except for not having full control over direct connections any longer. When someone attempts to initiate a direct connection, I'm not notified whether or not the connection went through.
