in FF, the characters doesn't have an default name?
they all male? (i'm viewing the pics)

mmm tomorrow i'm accquiring the game. ^^, shall i start by FF1 or FF2?

I say start with FF1 and go to 2.

And yeah, you have to give them names yourself. As for them all being male, there's some debate as to whether or not white mage is male or not. I guess it's up to you to figure it out.

If it'll help you in your decision in which game to play, FFI has class selection and you gain levels like most rpg's. FFII has an ability level up system, where certain abilities get stronger and their counterparts get weaker(strength <-> intelligence) as you use them in battle.

All of the party members in FFI are male except for the White Mage. Oh my, what controversy.

you can tell if Black Mage/Wizard is male or female?

During one of the cut scenes/FMV's you can see up the Black Mage/Wizard's robes.
