what is the best Rage?

when you just get Gau, i think the best one is Templar, because of Fire2, or Bomb, because of Blaze. But what is really the BEST rage to use?

Stray Cat when you first get him.. actually through most of the game it works great.

White Dragon is nice because it uses Pearl attacks.
I also like M-tek armor because of it's automatic protect effect and powerful tech laser. Earthguard is a good rage if it is available, because mighty gaurd is just plain awesome.

I don't use Gau, waste of a character slot for my style of fighting, so I have no favourite Rage :p

Io is good. Flare Star is an awesome attack. :D

Intangir is good too. It gives you a lot of defensive bonuses and defensive spells.

I love using intangir. Cuz if you cast a spell on him, He meteo's the enemy.. woot-woot go Intangir!

In the early game, Templar (with Fire2). A bit later, Stray Cat is useful because Cat Scratch does tons of damage, even later in the game. In the late game, I think getting Tyranosaurus' rage lets Gau use Meteo (not Meteor!). I think using Veteran's rage allows Gau to use Shock, General Leo's attack.

Overall, Stray Cat rage seems to be the most handy for me.

I think that was Retainer that enables Gau to use Shock.

Anyways, I was very fond of the Guard's attack. It seemed to do decent damage whenever I used it.

In the WOB I use a lot the Over-Mind Rage... The special attack is Elf Fire, pretty strong...
In the WOR (After I get the Merit Award) I only use the Straycat Rage

Stray Cat is prolly the best because of the 'CAtscratch' attack. Does 9999 dmg to me right now :P

Intangir also happens to cast Pep Up randomly all the time, so I don't use it. Ever.

Stray Cat, Bomb, and Grenade are my three favourite Gau Rages. But I'm sure you all know about that list (../ff6/gaurages.shtml) I made.

I was gonna say, how in the world do you get good use out of the Intangir rage? Pep Up is the funniest thing Gau does :laugh: I didn't know about the Meteo thing, I'll have to try that.

Templar and Stray Cat are my favorite beginning rages (Templar owns those Guards trying to get the Esper in Narshe, and it also owns Ultros in the Opera House). Once you get the airship in WoB, Aspik is a must. Giga Volt is the monster equivalent of Bolt 3. Then in WoR White Dragon, Io among others (I can't remember) are good. I believe the SrBehemoth rage casts Fire 3. Of course Stray Cat is good through the entire game.

In the beginning of the game, I use Stray Cat and ghost a lot. Ghost does Bolt2 and fire, which is pretty good when you are just starting out. Retainer is my favorite rage to use later in the game. Shock is the best, in my opinion.;)
