View Full Version : Question regarding custom titles

I was just wondering why custom titles weren't allowed until you've been a member for eight months (I think it was eight, I only heard it listening to that snippit in the registration thing (very nice touch by the way)). Not really outraged or anything, just curious.

Because it used to be based on post count. 1,500 posts = 1 custom title. When I was a newbie like yourself, I posted 770 times in the first week. That's why it was changed to 8 months. So, in short, sorry.

Also, your sig is too big. Just thought I'd let you know before the admins get ya. The height limit is 250 pixels, and the file size limit is 50k. :)

epileptic-seizure-inducing marquees are acceptable in your signature, however.

Eek. Thanks for the tip.

Though that does raise another question. Why aren't custom titles allowed from the get-go?

Getting to the 8 months just to get a custom title kinda makes people want to stay. If you get one right off the bat, most of the time people would just leave. There would be no goal for staying here a long time, other than meeting awesome people. :p

it doesn't take eight months to realize there are no awesome people here.

If you have one it means you're an old geezer that can't go to the bathroom for him/herself.

No, that's "Recognized Member."

Your allusion wasn't to Citizen Kane, and therefore it is inferior.

my allusion was to an allusion to Citizen Kane, though. It's meta-funny.

Your MOM is meta-funny

I was not thinking of the offence to my mother.

true.

EDIT: Well, I didn't, and nobody else really counts, right? Right.

it's from Joyce's <i>Ulysses</i>. I'm probably the only person here who's read it.

Do you want a prize or something?

Citizen Bleys

I want a prize.

eestlinc

no. I was just stating fact.

Citizen Bleys
07-22-2003, 02:27 PM
Can I have his prize, then?

Raistlin

Give Bleys the damn prize before he starts humping someone's leg.

Sometimes all it takes is a leg-hump to make someone's day. *pines*

I don't care much for the custom titles. I have been here for two years and can have one if I wish. I just choose not to.

The Man

can we actually use html in custom titles now or did some admin go crazy and change a bunch of people's ranks for no good reason?

m4tt
07-28-2003, 10:03 PM
Only admins can. And it was not "for no good reason" It was for every good reason on earth!

Citizen Bleys

Read: to annoy people.

And it's not my fault this time.

crono_logical
07-28-2003, 11:06 PM
*hides* :p

I stopped a few days ago anyway, so no point asking me anymore :p

And no, I wouldn't consider turning HTML on in custom titles for everyone, due to the messy possibilities that could arise from it :p

The Man
07-28-2003, 11:47 PM
such as people getting around the swear filter and using "Administrator" in their title? :p

Citizen Bleys

Again.

The Man
07-29-2003, 11:22 PM
That was "Administraitor" last time, I guess no one bothered looking very carefully :P

Killy

I tought it was pretty obsious that it was Administraitor.

Anyway, as for impersonation an Admin, I dont think anyone can do it so that someone else than a complete newbie could be fooled.

I was actually going to change my rank to Administraitor when I got mine but I thought Bobo was more interesting, as opposed to Sheriff Lobo.

Everyone would love/hate marquee titles.

colored titles suck
