I can't get it to read any CD, and consequently, it won't burn CDs.

It started happening a while ago, and I thought that maybe XP would solve the problem. (I was running 98)

If it helps any, it's an Acer 6x4x6 USB CDRW. I've tried looking for updated drivers, but I haven't been able to find any.

The only page I found so far is here:
http://www.benq.com/drivers/storage_drivers.html#cdrw_external

But I doubt it will help. Unless it stopped working right after you installed/upgraded something, chnces are that the drive is faulty, not the drivers. How old is it?

I've only had it for about a year and a half.

Check that the usb port works fine, and try the drive in a different port if you can. If the usb works fine and the drive doesn't, then it's the drive's fault.

If it's still under warranty, get it to be examined and/or repaired, because, unless it happened right after installing something or upgrading the drivers/firmware, it might well be the drive being faulty.
