Dude I'm at the pyrimid and I can't seem to kill those frigin gargouyls everytime I do they just come back so how do you kill them?

You have to kill them both at the same time. So use summons, throw skeans or use magic on both.

Like Flying Mullet said, use magic. I turned all my characters into Black Mages and blasted away with high level spells.

Summons work very well. Or really good Black Magic spells.

Coin Toss.

They can only be defeated by having their names spelled correctly. :p

I can't believe no one has mentioned Lv3 Flare yet. That is THE way to defeat the gargoyles. They take about four or five shots of it, but it's cheap, easy, and you kill them both at the same time.

I suppose coin toss is not cheap, but what do you spend your money on in the game, anyway?

shurikens, if you want ninjas.

but as i remember, gil is piss-easy to come across in ff5.

damn, i really need to replay this game.

See, I don't really use ninjas so I don't spend huge chunks of money on Tack Stars. Someone should do a study of how much damage coin toss does vs a tack star or whatever else per unit of gil. See which is more cost effective.

You don't have to kill them at the same time, actually. I just tried it, and it seems a Gargoyle is revived about 10 seconds after dying, unless both Gargoyles are dead. So just cast Golem at the beginning of the battle, keep attacking the statues equally and when you get one of them killed, kill the other one quickly so that the first one won't have time to get revived.

EDIT: If you aren't fast enough to kill the 2nd Gargoyle after killing the 1st one, use Haste2 and/or set Battle Mode from ATB to Wait. I think Monks are good against Gargoyles thanks to their double hit and Kick ability.

yea, that's what I would figure, although for a single enemy the stars are probably a little better. maybe. aren't take stars like 50,000 gil? what a ripoff.

The Man

yeah pretty much. if they didn't cost so much money they'd be worth it but they're as much as a good weapon (not to mention that the best weapons in the game aren't the Twelve Legendary ones and can't be bought anyway). basically the tack stars are only worth using against bosses. if they're worth using against anything at all, that is, which i'd dispute.

ninjas own because of 2swords or whatever it's called, but throw could have been so much nicer. i'm glad they took down the price of shurikens and stuff in ff6, it made shadow so much more worthwhile.

I never liked two sword abilities because you can't use a shield and I think defense and evade are way more important than just sheer offensive power in ff games. Nothing is more satisfying than watching every attack miss or do minimal damage while I just sit back and use normal attacks.

LV3 FLARE, DAMMIT!

how do you get two atma's? can you steal one?

The Man

yeah, one of the monsters on the final tier before kefka has an atma weapon. the other one has a ragnarok. unfortunately you can only use it in the final battle, but w/e

I never actually bothered stealing from the final bosses. I also never bothered getting blue magic in ff5. Maybe I will next time I play through it.

stealing from the final boss would be a bit pointless. unless it were for something like a megalixir i guess.

Or if it wee something you could throw, hence the Atma Weapon. IMO It's pretty handy for that alone.

You're in Sarasota? I go to Ringling!

The Man

yeah I prefer the Atma Weapon for equipping on my characters, since it usually does 9999 damage each attack. combine that with offering (and it usually STILL does 9999 damage each attack) and you get ownage in a can.

yeah, i'm on siesta key. small world.

DocFrance

You can kill them using Lv3 Flare.
