Post what 5 characters you would use to make a team in FF4.

Paladin Cecil
Adult Rydia
Fu So Ya
Edge
Kain

Yeah I know it's basically the final team with Fu instead of Rosa but thats mine.

The final team works for me...the only thing I would change is that Edge would have more defense.

mh...
I'd say Cecil, Kain, FuSoYa, Palom, Rydia:)
1 good WM, 3 superpowerful BM's & two good fighters!
what else do you need;)

Even Palom learns Meteo, so you can rock the house with 3 Meteo users:whoa:

Cecil, Fu So Ya, Rydia, Yang and Kain.

Dark Knight Cecil (Because honestly, I never used his Paladin abilities)
Kain
Tellah (Tellah looks cooler than FuSoYa)
Adult Rydia (Never can have too much black magic)
Golbez (He had a battle sprite, he's fair game)

Tellah would be good if he could earn more than 90 magic points.

Right. That would be ASSUMING that he could.

I'd replace Rosa with EDWARD.

Just because a level 99 Edward, while sucky of course, would be wacky.

Just can't beat those harps.

Paladin Cecil,
Kain,
Tellah (with as much mp as Rydia or Rosa),
Rosa,
Rydia.

I generally dislike Edge because of his low defence and his Jutsu's aren't that great so I'd pick Tellah over him. If I could clone Cecil he'd probably be there instead.

Assuming 14 functionally different characters in the game:

Cecil (Knight), Kain, Rydia (Young), Tellah, Edward, Rosa, Yang, Palom, Porom, Cecil (Paladin), Cid, Rydia (Mature), Edge, FuSoYa.

There are two types of attacks in the game: magical and physical. Physical attacks are less useful against members in the back row. It is therefore your advantage to have as many people in the back row as possible, which is three. So you'd pick the 2-front/3-back configuration right out of the gate.

Now you have two people in the front vulnerable to physical attacks. You can cut that number again by adding Kain to the front; he's in the air quite often and many of the hits aimed at him will go to back row members instead (who take less damage), so Kain's in.

The other front-row member can be totally safe because of the Cover command. With Cecil in the BACK row, Covering frontman #2, you have a virtually impenetrable front line as far as physical attacks are concerned. So we now have Kain up front and Cecil in back.

To nullify magic attacks, you need white magic. The white magic set includes Shell (raise defense vs. magic), Wall (reflect spells), as well as Cure1..4 and Life1..2. White mages include Rosa, Tellah, FuSoYa, Rydia (Young), and Porom. Rydia (Young) is out because of her low HP value; Tellah is out for his crippling MP cap. We'll obviously pick Rosa since she has the best attack of the three remaining options, and then FuSoYa because Porom doesn't know any black magic.

That just leaves frontman #2. We want someone who can deal large amounts of damage there. This excludes Cecil (Knight), Cid and Edward (whose best equipment is dreadfully weak compared to the other members), as well as any mage (who have low HP values and long casting times). This leaves only Yang and Edge.

Yang's damage is based on stats and not equipment. The question is, are his stats at high levels enough to beat Edge's Throw command? If so, I'd take him instead of Edge. Otherwise, Edge it is.

So, my dream team is Edge/Kain (up front), Cecil/Rosa/FuSoYa (in back).

And yes, I put way too much thought into this. =)

Old Rydia is better than FuSoYa, since she has all those black magics, and the Summons too (and Sylph can cure your party)

The final team works just fine for me. Maybe I'd replace Edge with Yang, but besides that, I'm happy with what we get at the end.

I can't stand Paladin Cecil!! THe only thing good about him is that he has good swords. I liked the Dark Knight one better, maybe they should have just given him black magic... that would make sense.

Paladin Cecil had the best weapon and armor in the game, and having an extra Cure 2 and Esuna was very handy at times. I don't get what makes Dark Knight Cecil so much better than the Paladin version.

The final party works for me as well, I think I might have Yang over Edge, though - just b/c of his defense.

BTW...Outsider...I've seen that game in your sig. somewhere before years ago...what is it called??? I can't remember.

People like anti-heroes more than they like boyscouts. Tyler Durden is WAAAAAAAAY cooler than.... well.... than just about everyone!

My party would be:

Yang
Cid
Edward
Dark Knight Cecil
Kain

Paladin Cecil (that Ragnarok sword is freakin' AWESOME.)
Rosa (gotta love the mega-healing power...)
Adult Rydia (and the mega-blasting power...)
FuSoYa (slow as heck, but still more mega-blasting...)
Kain (the best character out of the remaining ones.)

I would probably go with this party:

Cecil (need a tank)
Palom (strongest black mage in game)
Porom (strongest white mage in game)
Rydia (not as strong as Palom, but her Summons spells are stronger)
Kain (dragoons are just plain cool)

oh, and palom and porom learn their spells faster than Rydia or Rosa

How about this just to mix things up?

Cecil (paladin) - gotta have a good guy
Edge - no party is complete without a resident evolved thief
Golbez - I mean come on
Rubicant - coolest dude that wears red... ever.
Baigan - I dunno, other than his sprite looks cool...

nobody said they had to be playble characters
