Am I the only one who thinks this?

No. This has been talked about for ages.

Yeah, I agree with you. Barret is Mr.T

In fact, if you change Barret's name to 'T', there'll be an amusing exchange when the party's busting out of the Shinra building:

Aeris: "Why, thank you Mr T!"

Barret: "Who you callin' 'Mr' T? That don't sound right!"

Ha ha! that's too funny, BigD! I wonder if the creators of ff7 had Mr.T in mind when they designed Barrett. Now I feel like watching The A team.....

and if you can find them... maybe you can hire...

Someone needs to write an amusing fan fiction about the AVALANCHE-Team. No, not me!

Cloud builds a makeshift Ultima Weapon using a piece of wire and a foot of duct tape...

...While Barret refuses to board Cid's latest invention - an airship, cunningly powered by a salvaged 40 horsepower Jeep motor....

In The ancient city when Aeris Dies and the Team are loking for Sephiroth If Barrets on you're team he says "Wheres that damn Sephiroth foo!" Sounds Like a Mr T thing wouldn't you say?

Barret's dialogue was clearly modelled on the great Mr T.

Not sure if that's 'official', but it seems fairly evident to me.

but if an ff7 movie were to made (im not starting anything here, so dont gte ideas) Mr. T would be the worst decision to play barret. even tho they are exaclty alikt. its like they were seperated at birth... sorta like kuja and zidane

TheAbominatrix

That has to do with the fact that Mr. T is a terrible actor, not his likeness to Barret.

indeed it does. i think that makes me the master of the obvious.

Barret would not be a difficult role. Mr. T could easily pull it off - there's not much to it.

TheAbominatrix

I doubt Mr. T could pull of the emotions Barret has in scenes like the plate collapse or the meeting with Dyne

You're giving FF7's rather flat characters far too much credit.

TheAbominatrix

True. But if they were going to actually make a movie I'd hope they'd add some dimension to them. It'd make for some very powerful scenes.

Actually, I'm sure most of us agree that trying to compress a story like FF7's into even a three hour long movie would be a monumental failure.

TheAbominatrix
08-24-2003, 08:21 AM
Well the length is certainly a topic for that other thread, but to briefly divulge in it here, it'd have to be multiple movies.

Anyway, if they did add depth to the characters, the hardcore VII fans would go nuts. Shallow is what it's all about, there.

Oh Mr. T couldnt be Barret. As B.A. Bacrapper or whatever in the A-team, he never could hit anything, no matter what weapon he had. Silly Mr. T.

It'd be cool to see Barret in an Anime. Preferably, a FF7 anime.

Mr. T as Barret: Same old, same old.

Told ya Mr. T was a bad actor

There is a FF7 Manga But Barret is not called mr. T

There is no official FF7 manga. There are, however, tons of doujinshi, which are fan manga often produced by professional companies. They come in all sorts, from joke stories to hentai to shounen-ai to continuations of the story. They are not, however, official in any way.

It would not be hard to make an FFVII movie at all. Cut out the reading and a few towns with no significance, and yer set.

They could just do the miniseries thing.
And besides Mr.T's bad acting he just seem to old to play Barret. Even if Square did base Barett on him which is possible.

other than cid, barret was the oldest playable character

Celes

Yeah Barret and Cid were both in their thirties, I believe, in the game? I thought it was kind of refreshing to have some characters in an FF game that aren't all 17 years old. Plus Barret and Cid had their own unique personalities which enhanced the game's storyline.

:p Course it was nice having older characters.Cid is one of my favorites! It gets tiring having all these weak, punny, cry baby characters in their teens.Sofar,i think the only real teen in that Game though was Yuffie,at 16.Red too,but he was 45 in his timeline(14,i relize,in human years).

Barret, Cid, Red XIII (OK, so he's only an adolecent by the standards of his kind, but he's smarter and more grown-up than many of his Human counterparts). Nanaki is, actually, 45 years old - it's just that a 45-year-old of his species is about as developed as a late-teenaged Human. Nanaki's age is a source of frequent confusion.
