Oh yeah! I was curious if this kind of thing is even done here. I know it was at some point(being a peep how went through it a long time ago).

If it isn't used then why not? I think it has some good. Instead of just giving a person a warning(which should be done by BoB from now on) after the warning temp. ban them to show them how deprived their life would be with out EoFF. Then let them back after like say 2 weeks or something and if they continue then ban them.

I don't even know why I thought of this. I really...have no idea.

ed is asking about intentionally temporary bans, as opposed to staff rescinding a previously permanent ban.

I've always liked the "warning > ban" policy. If you're too stupid not to listen to a warning might as well not be here.

I want temp bans, but the rest of the staff won't let me do it.

besides obvious spam trolls like people who join only to post porn or outwar links, I would think temporary bans would be a better idea. Besides, I bet a lot of people who get banned for a few weeks wouldn't even bother coming back.

Stop making all of EoFF Staff apart from you out to be the bad guys. >=/ We feel grouped out.

I said I'd support temp bans if we unbanned Sugpo.

Temp bans are a good idea... like I detailed in Staff.
Seems there's plenty of support for the concept.

I was shocked when Aaron asked me a couple days ago to look for a temp. ban hack for vB. iPB comes equipped with a suspension system. And I thought all boards still had it, 'cause everybody used to get suspended four years ago at FFWA. Of course, now it's called "temp. ban" and it's not standard for the admin CP, so times have changed I guess.

I think a lot more boards would use temporary banning if it came standard in vBulletin, yep.

I kinda like the idea, although I think we've only temp-banned maybe two people ever on FG. Most of the times when it goes as far as someone getting banned we don't ever want to see their face again :P

Well, if you want to be literal about it, I voted *against* instituting temp bans...but not because I don't like the idea. I argued for and voted against. Long story, sort of.

If I leared anything, it's that once you delete something its very hard to bring it back.

You don't need a bloody hack to remember to unban someone >=O
