View Full Version : A suggestion and stuff

I'm not sure if feedback means discussion, but most of the time I see people post a relatively simple question (eg: when I demanded that the quick reply automatically parsed http tags), and the thread requires several dozen replies before it dies.
Most, if not all questions can be answered right away, right? Why not close all threads once the problem has been resolved?

Someone may want to have some say about it, or that the person who answered the question may think that they could be wrong, so they leave it open in hopes that they are wrong so a debate and/or flame war can erupt.
I could be wrong there, too.

It just wouldn't be any fun anymore.

Since when has the feedback forum dealt with actuall feedback?
What a stupid thread...

That could be done, but I have a policy of leaving a discussion open unless there's a special reason to close it.
Someone might have something to say that I haven't thought about. I'm not arrogant enough to assume that I'll forsee every possible idea.

I like it the way it is. Its ever-so fun and informative.

This is like a secret spam forum that stays under control because few people come in and discover it. I can say it because I don't spam, I just see it when people ignore my suggestions for things such as contests.....
Contest, contest, contest!

Yeah. We have this forum so that we can have an open discussion on these things. If it was a one-question-one-response ordeal, you may as well just PM a random Staff member. =P

That way I can make comments that help none and amuse myself and possibly others.

That'd work better than this forum. Delete this forum and let's start using PMs. You only need one staff member willing to receive and handle all the suggestions. I elect Bleys.

And I can disagree with whatever anyone says because things shouldn't change.

I'm here if you need me. It would be nice to be useful for once.

I have a better idea. Let's carpet-bomb the entire state of Pennsylvania.
Nobody should miss it.

Sadly you're right, no one would. Since most suggestions in this forum come from other states or countries though, that doesn't quite solve the problem. So when's this forum going to be deleted? I have some suggestions, but I'll save them up for the flurry of PMs I plan to send.

This forum should be archived.

Great, now it won't be archived.

That's my point: all questions can be answers rathered quickly. Either people know the answer, or need to ask more questions. PMs might work, but then it's also not guaranteed that a staff member could ansewr the question.
meh...forget it. Just close every forum in EoFF

Most of the good suggestions I've seen come AFTER the first post. Someone says something, an Admin either shoots it down, or suggests why it's impractical, then somewhere in amongst the spam a really good idea crops up along the original lines.
I can't be bothered to look for a good example so I'll sumarize with "Sod off and stop being so picky or I'll cut your knackers off with a chainsaw."
I think I've made my point.

Ok I'm just going to say that FFWA closes threads in their help forum all the time and it really pisses me off when they do that. So I think it's a horrible idea.

It's been done phoenix *Sigh* amatuers. I say we keep threads mainly open. Rather alot of people would post different views etc so if it's closed others would be at a loss in what could be an important decision

I say we just restrict access to this forum.

Umm, whats been done Radje?
I agree with Del Murder on the basis that I'm still alowed in. Otherwise I request he be cast into the firiest fires in the firiest part of Hell. Somewhere with a view, I'm not that cruel.
