I highly doubt it. I think FF8 was the first really commercialized game that used that kind of stuff.

There are some pretty nifty little FFVI trinkets that I've come across but there were by no means as many things as the latter FFs. This site has pics of some of the things:

I really want some of those Pewter figures. Digicube still sells a few of them on their site but they won't ship outside of Japan. :\
