We have a VB forum too and i was wondering how we can we get those to show up above ur custom rank..

The easy way is to add a custom field in the profile, that's editable only by admins and invisible to the users, and have it called in the templates to show up under the person's name.
That's for the display in posts part. For the rest (especially if you want them showing up in the leaders page), you need to make new usergroups for recognized members/former staff/whatever you want and move the users there.
