Yeah, I knew about Niten Ichi Ryu. At my Tae Kwon Do, since I am the sword master, I teach that to my advanced class. And I also say once they can control my sword as well as I do with both hands, then they have mastered that art. But I'm sure someone at Square is aware of some swordsmanship and martial arts.

i just looked at the poster pic that is on the home page for EoFF, not the forum homepage. up at the top you can clearly see a picture of sephiroth and to the left is a big red "vs." i have seen the picture before and it was cloud on the other side of that vs.

Hrmm... well... I don't have much of a verdict on this yet. I'll wait and see how it turns out, if it makes its way Down Under.

It was pretty disappointing to hear that the sequel was going to be a movie, though. No battles? No mini games? No sidequests? 50+ hours of gaming and storyline crammed into a 90 minute movie? It's great that there's going to be some resolution of some sort, though.

Like the release dates. According to Final Fantasy Online, it'll be released in Japan in the first quarter of next year, in the US on the 10th of July, and in Europe sometime in the fourth quarter.

Whenever I thought they put her in the water I thought it would keep her from decomposing somehow. It could be because of the crappy water effects though. Or maybe something happens that restores her and hes pulling her out, I don't know.

Things decompose in water. She'd be bloated within a day, fish would have eaten her eyes within that time, and after a period of two years, her bones would be completly picked clean.

Why would he pull her out exactly like he dropped her in? If something incredibly lame like her being resurrected happening, she'd probably come out on her own. With the position he's in, he'd be lifting her out... she dropped a long way down, and unless she floated to the top, it's doubtful he'd be able to lift her up that way.

Not to mention his outfit clearly lacks the new stuff he's wearing for AC.

She's been dead for years now, it's not far off a decade... get over it! (I'm not referring to anyone in particular here, just the general 'Aeris might be alive' mentality that's been dug up recently)

Two female characters are appreantly slated to appear, (they say between 14 and 25, not sure why... Yuffie would be older than 14 by then) - I doubt Tifa is dead and Aeris is resurrected :p

But it's early days. They've already stated that most (if not all) of the trailer... at least the first one... is for promotional use only and will probably *not* be included in the final movie.

And no i am not happy about the movie, well i am happy about that too, but i am just so glad i finally read all posts on this topic, after 2 hours and 45 minutes and 37...38...39...etc seconds, I'm done. I have various replies to some of the things said here, but i am not gonna bother to quote anything, because i have a slow internet, only 16 kbps so sorry for that.

Now first regarding square enix , I completely agree that after they merged the games they have been producing have started to suck, plus TSW sucked as well, for some reason they never make them long enough!, is it that hard to make it a half hour longer then just go from a setting to climax in like 20 minutes. but thats that. Enix does suck! But what I really dont get with some of you people, and i know i'll get a few of you unhappy with this... is that you are saying the slutty look to ffx-II is bad, or that square is using sex to sell games. That kind of tyhing makes me mad, now i have come to 4 conclusions for the people that say sex and games dont mix.

b) you're either too old
c) you're one of those people who belives in no sex before mariaage religious crap. ( i am a catholic but not to that extent.)

I was just saying that games hsould have more sexual content, and i know some unhappy moms would be suing square so i know it is not reralistic, but then think about it, the little fact that ff7 had swearing in it did not bother any1, even though for 5 years ago for a game to have swearing was unlikely, hence the rating for games were made, if you have a mom who dont want you to play games like this, read the rating and if it says mild sexual content then dont get it. They wont loose too much money cause while they will loose old fans they will get new ones. The japanese have dating sims and hentai anime and all that for kids at 16, and has that done anything to them, hell no! they just mature more rapidly than us. And produce amazing anime and video games.So there is nothing wrong with having sexual content in a game, it just makes it more realistic and mature.

Now for the ff7 movie, i am looking forward to it and so are a couple of my friends, i havent been able to watch any of the trailers because of my slow internet connection, but i wouldn't be to disapointed if sephy was in it. Aries would be bizzare but then again, no matter how much the movie sux it wont change my opinion of the game, but if the movie is good ill think of the game even better. About the sword being as thin as paper, it just shows how sharp and well made it is, and that it could slice through anything.

The guy in the wheelchair could be hojo just as well as anybody else, i really dont care until i see the movie, it is probably not as good and not as bad as we say it is.

If so, surely it'd make more sense as "Planet Scar Syndrome", given that The Planet (this was its official name I believe?) was scarred on the North Pole by Jenova some 5000-years-or-whatever-time ago and the planet and/or Jenova are involved with the disease.

Apart from that it'd also support my theory that the 'mystery man' is the supposedly indestructable Jenova (who, according to the archives at the snowy town near the crater, first appeared as a male), and has inflicted the disease. Following from this, the other people who look similar to the guy would be 'clones', and the story would be about finding a way to permenantly defeat Jenova... I guess similar in a way to FFX/Sin.

Well it attacked Shin-Ra because Shin-Ra was a threat to the Planet by sucking up all the Mako Energy for the cannon. When all the Mako is gone, then the Planet dies. Weapon sensed it and attacked Shin-Ra. Why it attacked others, I don't know.

Japanese for world is �¢ŠE (sekai), not �¯ �ihoshi�j
which means 'star'. In Kingdom Hearts, for example, a game which deals with multiple worlds, 'sekai' is the word used (at least in the Ansem Reports I've read).

However....

In the Japanese version of Final Fantasy Seven, Sephiroth refers to the Planet not as 'sekai', world, but instead as 'hoshi', star.

He does this at least twice that I know of; once being his infamous

'I am one of the rightful heirs to this planet!' line.

Now, I'd like to share my personal theory on this "Star Scar Syndrome" thing.

Sephiroth originally wanted to summon Meteor to damage the planet. Then he planned on absorbing the energy the planet would try to heal itself with. This, due to the size of Meteor, would have to be a LOT of Lifestream. But...what would happen if there wasn't enough to fix itself with?

Aeris (most likely) was the reason the extra Lifestream came out to try to stop Meteor when Holy failed. Maybe there's a side effect to using so much of the planet's lifeforce. It was already "slowly but surely" (to quote Barret) being drained out of the planet by Shinra, so what if the strain of both that, creating the Weapons, and fending off Meteor was just too much for the planet to handle?

The Lifestream is compromised of life, right? Therefore, it stands to reason that if it began to run dry, it would need more life. Through Bugenhagen's visual demonstration, we discovered that the souls of all living things on the Planet are what essentially compose Lifestream. And if the Lifestream needed more life, where would it take it from first? Surely not the innocent wildlife of the planet.
It would take it from the humans.

So...what I'm saying is that perhaps the Lifestream itself is what caused the "Star Scar Syndrome". I don't think we know yet whether this disease or whatever actually kills people. If it doesn't, perhaps the Lifestream takes a bit out of each person's soul. Not enough to kill, but....
It would be especially ironic if this was true, considering how the Planet would be doing exactly the same thing to the people at the end of the story as what the Shinra were doing to the Planet at the beginning of FFVII.


Where exactly Jenova fits into the mess I haven't really decided yet. In any case, an Planet with a weakened Lifestream should be much easier to take over, like a virus or bacteria strain is more likely to conquer an human or animal with an already weakened immune system.

Any ideas about my theory? And/or has anyone brought this particular theory up before, or am I the first?

I think there's a fine line between stars and planets anyway, though no doubt astronomers would disagree with that one :)

Your theory works well, too. I still think the guy is Jenova (visual clues too... his hair style and colour is similar to what I remember of Jenova's head in various places... the Nibelheim reactor maybe, or was it green there?) but I prefer your theory of how the syndrome is inflicted.

How Jenova would fit into this if it *is* him/her/it... I don't know either :)

It's pretty much safe to assume she (or he...or it...or ANO KATA!) is an extraterrestrial, due to all of the 'calamity from the skies' lines in FFVII.
However, is it a planet hopping space alien?
If so, how closely would it resemble Lavos' from Chrono Triggerparasitic traits?
I always thought the two games were similar in many ways...

Perhaps Jenova too is a galactic parasite that comes to a planet, leeches its Lifestream dry, and then moves on to the next. If that's true, imagine how old it's got to be. The distance between stars is vast. The time it would take to travel between them is pretty long. Hundreds, thousands...millions of years?

And if that's true, I'm sure it's dealt with resistance by the native citizens of planets it has destroyed before...
Cloud and the gang could be going against something that has eons upon eons of experience killing planets. Quite a scary prospect.

Yet another excellent theory - I never made the CT connection, but that too makes sense. Maybe Jenova has indeed done this several times before, and knows exactly how to prey upon natural greed and influence a planet's inhabitants to weaken the planet they live on.

That would also liven up the story and enhance the characters - can Cloud and company finally stop the being that has been destroying planets for so long, so many times? Would it even be 'right' to... is Jenova really evil and greedy or just a hungry being trying to survive?

Mkay, here's a random thought. Let's say that is Aeris there in the wheelchair. Maybe it's Aeris' body, but Jenova's mind controlling it. Jenova's body was destroyed by Cloud and co., and so was Sephy's body, leaving Jenova no where to run to. So instead, she/it headed for the uninhabited body of the last Cetra. The problem? Since Jenova's definately not a Cetra, and Aeris didn't have any Jenova cells in her body, Jenova is extremely limited in her temporary home. Hence the reason why it's crucial that Jenova's head go missing, and would explain why the people with Jenova cells are bowing to her, and yeah...@_@; Like I said, just a random thought.

Yeah, I know Summer of '04 was for Japan, but I haven't heard anything about America. But if you can read Japanese, a Gameshark does wonders since it allows you to play any region DVD.

See, I think that it would be great to kill of a character for no reason what-so-ever. Like there's a group with Cloud in it, and Clouds leading the group through a town/city and he turns around to talk to the group when he walks out into the street and gets blindsided by a bus and it turned into a pancake.

Of course I'd like to see it just to see how many people start crying and whining in the movie theater. I can't believe how attached people get to characters in a video game. But that's just me. :hat:
