From what I heard in order for you to play this game you need four players each with a GBA connected to the 'Cube, is htis ture? I plan on getting FFCC when I get a 'Cube but I only have one GBA.

Absolutely not true. You don't need four GBA to play FFCC, You can play by yourself by selecting the single mode.
