counterattack and command counter?

is there a difference between these two moves? i heard that you need command counter to beat ruby weapon but i dont know where it is. i have counterattack....

The Counter Attack materia will let you counter attack with your normal physical attack when you are hit. The Counter materia will counter attack with the linked materia when you are attacked. So if you have Knights of the Round linked to a Counter materia you will counter attack with Knights of the Round when you are attacked.

Counter attack attacks physically.
Counter attacks with paired command materia.
Magic Counter atacks with paired magic materia.


Does counter or magic counter really work with KoTR? I'll have to try that on Ruby...
