Problem for playing on a laptop

I'm playing this on a laptop with the input patch and I'm up to the section on the 1st disc where you have to name Red XIII just after you rescue Aeris.

My problem is when i go to name Red i can't! The controls don't move the cursor...it's been fine all the way up to now.

Ok... i seem to have got it fixed.

I had to turn on numlock and use the laptop hot heys to select the name. Once that was down i could turn it off and use the keys as normal.

Very weird, but at least i got past it now.
