Leveling up, Learning abilities

I've been playing FFX-2 for some time now, and I'm on the third chapter (not too far) but I wanted to level up some and build my abilities. Are there any places I can go to fight some fiends that would be best to fight to level up or learn AP?

I went to mushroom rock road and maclania place. um. Lets see. Mihen High road. Mt. Gagazat. Yeah ya wanna level up well before the 5th chapter.

Get the Double AP plate from catching cactuar. And if you want to level up might as well go dig up stuff at Bikaniel(sp) Island.
